Farewell Bill Paxton, Thanks For The Movie and TV Memories

tornado-3
Bill Paxton with Helen Hunt in the movie “Twister”.

I remember seeing Bill Paxton in the movie “Twister” it was the first movie I saw on DVD. He was great as a storm chasing meteorologist. His role as a patriarch of a historic feuding family in the TV mini series “Hatfield’s and McCoy’s” was pretty spot on too. Paxton was also in “Apollo 13” with Tom Hanks. Most recently he was in a CBS TV show called “Training Day”. Paxton passed away at the age of 61 today. Thanks for the great movie memories.

Yes Wal-Mart when I am searching for a printer I sure want Keruig K-Cups as a part of my search results. I want printing not percolating or something like that.

Flash Gordon, A Classic Space Opera Movie From 1980

Flash Gordon is a 1980 British space opera action film filmed in Technicolor and Todd-AO, based on the King Features comic strip of the same name created by Alex Raymond. The film was directed by Mike Hodges, and produced by Dino De Laurentiis. (from Wikipedia)

We watched this movie last night after picking up the Blu Ray version from the bargain bin at Walmart. There is a great story of good vs. evil and loyalty to friends and that sort of thing. It’s also a little cheesy and campy like the Batman TV show. A lot of great British actors are in this movie like Timothy Dalton and Brian Blessed. Famed actors Max Von Sydow and Topol are great in this too.

Queen did much of the music for this movie and it really made it special. This is the official video from the soundtrack. Their participation helps make this a cult classic.
