I am a middle-aged dork who seeks to bridge generations and to relate to others. People are people when it comes down to it and we all can gain from the experiences of younger and older folks. I believe in treating a 20 year old and a 70 year old the same and that is with respect, dignity and a little bit of love. One thing I have learned from blogging is that we are more alike than different and that our age is nothing but a number. Of course we should always keep things on the up and up in this crazy world we live in.
Six Word Story
Normal people die every day unnoticed.
2016 Has Not Started Well
There have been a great number of talented and influential people have passed away this year. Somehow we need to restart the year. However loss is a part of life and it’s something we all must accept, reluctantly. Many people are mourning right now for one reason or another. We have the legacy and things they left behind in the form of music, film, television and more importantly their families who now must carry on without their loved one.
In Memory of Glen Frey of The Eagles
Glen Frey, founding member of the classic rock band The Eagles passed away today after a lengthy illness. His music with the Eagles influenced a generation of musicians and his solo career was part of the soundtrack of my youth. “You Belong To The City” from the Miami Vice Soundtrack was my favorite song of his because it has a wicked sax solo to get the song started. It also told a interesting story lyrically.
Glen Frey thank you for the music, memories and more.
Rambling About Negativity
Maybe its me but there seems to be a lot of negativity in the world. We are all living day-to-day trying to get by but there are lots of things that drag us down. People these days find it easier to rail against something and complain about it than try to fix the problem. Wouldn’t it be better to light a match to scare away the darkness than to just let the darkness consume ones heart and mind? It’s a matter of people wanting things a certain way and it’s not working out for them. I don’t know but perhaps we need more light and levity to get us through. It’s so easy though to be Debbie Downer than to encourage and enlighten. There are things I get down about, everyone does but there are a lot of things to be grateful for. Maybe we should try to focus on those things. Just saying.
Music Monday: David Bowie – Starman
This song was featured in the movie “The Martian” which added a great touch to the story. Many are still celebrating the life of David Bowie so it seems appropriate.
