Rambling About Religion

Religion for many has become all about sin instead of doing something different like bringing people together who have different lives and ideas. Religion can be used to promote community and change instead of tearing our world apart. I think developing relationships with one’s higher power and other people of faith can also be a good thing for the world.

I am a unapologetic believer in that faith should rooted in the reality of today and that people should have have an abundance of love, grace, peace. People should have the freedom to be who they are and secure in the knowledge that God created them to be who they are. I also think that God’s story is still being written in the here and now.

If someone tells you that your faith isn’t strong enough because it doesn’t fit into their view of what faith should be then tell them you are working out your relationship with God/Higher Power in a way that makes sense to you. Each person is to work out their relationship with fear and trembling.

The way you treat others and relate to the world informs everyone about your relationship with and understanding of your higher power…Tony Burgess

Holidays Done, Regular Life Resumes

Today is Sunday, tomorrow is Monday. The holidays are done. We return to regular routines and our day-to-day existence. It is good to have a change in life every now and then because it keeps us fresh and renewed. Many of us have had extended time off while others have had just a couple days to rest and renew. In this new year there is going to be change, it’s guaranteed. Life is about flux and fluidity. No matter what you do, I hope you will do it well in the coming days.

Downton Abbey – Season 6 – The Final Season

Tonight we begin our sad farewell to this amazing series. It’s amazing how a British family drama set in the early part of the 20th century has captured the imagination of viewers across the globe. For those of us in the United States we will see it on PBS stations across the country like WTCI here in Chattanooga. I have avoided as many spoilers as possible and I am looking forward to having the final series unfold.

I Like It When Bloggers Return

I have written about when bloggers go away on this blog and how sad it is. Now I would like to say how cool it is to see bloggers you haven’t seen in awhile come back to regular posting. The blogosphere is better with all of us. To all of you who are back to blogging I salute you!

Keep On Blogging good people.

Holiday Shrimp Spread

This is tasty, savory and easy to prepare. Good for crackers among other things. It’s great for holidays and other special occasions.

  • 1/2 tsp Old Bay or your favorite seasoning for seafood
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives, minced fine (optional)

Stir all ingredients together until well blended. Spoon into container(s), cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with semi-sturdy crackers like Ritz, Town House, or Triscuit. (You can substitute 1/4 of cocktail sauce for the ketchup and horseradish if you have it.)

I “adopted and adapted” this recipe from a former coworker, and it has become one of my holiday party staples. I have two pretty Christmas bowls with lids that I use; I can make the spread beforehand and keep it in the refrigerator until party day. I serve it with the Ritz crackers that are shaped like snowflakes. (Of…
