Quote Of The Day – MLK Day Edition

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Celebrating The Life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr.’s day in America. We remember his life, his influence, and his impact on the lives of people everywhere. The world would be a much different place without him. Thank you Dr. King for your service and sacrifice. You still inspire us today to overcome and to seek justice for all.

Today there will be several quotes attributed to his civil rights leader that will appear on my blog.

Thank You Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

Today we say farewell to the Biden-Harris administration. I want to say thank you to President Joe Biden for his decades of service to Delaware and the nation. You were a solid, comforting force for the country and got us back on track after the pandemic. Kamala Harris, you were a trailblazer serving as the first woman as Vice President among many other achievements in your career in public service. It is a sad day for many. I know I am sad. Let’s hope for the best.

Continuing to Mourn President Jimmy Carter

Just because it’s Inauguration Day doesn’t mean the time of mourning isn’t over for the recent passing of President Jimmy Carter. Flags are supposed to be flying at half-mast but some places governors due to political concerns have ordered them to full-mast because of Monday’s events in Washington, DC. President Carter is a great man who deserves to be remembered and properly honored. For all he did in his life, he deserves better.

So TikTok Is Returning To Americans

I heard that TikTok is coming back online for Americans. It will be interesting to see what happens. This whole thing seems nefarious to me. I don’t trust it.

Linux Mint 22.1 Upgrades Weekend

I run Linux Mint as my desktop and laptop operating system. It is free, open-source, and runs well on older hardware like mine. They released a terrific upgrade with some new and updated features so I have installed it on both of my machines and they run very well. I can do everything on Linux that I can do on Microsoft Windows without the bloat and slowdown.

Among the many things I like is when Linux Mint does an upgrade it doesn’t take forever to set up. I use Linux Mint 22.1 for web browsing, media, word processing, and playing games like Tetris and Solitaire and much more. So, It’s been fun setting things up and customizing the look on both machines.

Many machines are going to be without support from Microsoft as Windows 10 support ceases soon. I suggest Linux Mint for anyone who needs a fresh, modern operating system to keep their older machines running. There is a lot of support out there to help you get it running and use it for everyday tasks and the like.
