Thoughts On Me At 55

As I celebrate my 55th birthday, I think about how things are different for those of us in Generation X who are getting older.

We don’t have as many worries about student loans but medical bills that need paying. Health care is not cheap for anyone.

Our music is being used to sell us stuff like medication, mortgages, and in grocery stores.

Conversations with friends mean reminiscing and remembering about our youth while also talking about what ails us.

We are closer to being able to order from the senior menu at a restaurant and we are surprised when a fresh-faced teenager gives us a senior discount on our receipts at Arby’s.

Being a grownup looks different for us. I am getting older but not growing up whatever that means. Adulting can suck if you ask me but by now I have to be used to it but you don’t have to like it.

Thanks for listening to the rambling of an older person living their life at a milestone birthday.

Six Word Story

Being a grownup is kinda overrated.

Working and Digging

Some days you have to work harder and dig deeper to get things done. I’m not a fan of those days. But I must persist so I get stuff done. Perhaps working smarter would be a solution. That’s my Ted Talk for today.

Tired, Broke, Adulting

Yep, all of us can relate to this. Everyone is tired of something. We are broke because there is more month than money. Adulting is the modern art of being a grown-up which can be kind of lame. We all have to hang in there.

Six Word Story

Adulting is a blessing and curse.

When Stuff Doesn’t Work Right

Stuff is supposed to work and when it doesn’t it is frustrating. Doesn’t matter what it is. Our refrigerator and AC have had some challenges which means opening the old wallet to get it working like it should. Keeping things cool like human beings is important, keeping them warm is important too when it’s time to keep them warm. Everything in your house that is a convenience will break down at times and that just sucks.

For those who don’t know this is called adulting and sometimes it sucks. Don’t be in such a hurry for the responsibility of being eighteen and older. It has it’s privileges but there are lots of drawbacks too.

BTW humans need to work right too…that is a post for another time though.
