My Emmys 2016 Recap

Last night a few of my favorites won Emmys for their work in Television. Diversity seems to be the rule in Television these days with many people of color and orientation being nominated. “Game of Thrones” and “The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story” won big. My favorite reality show “The Voice” won as well. Jimmy Kimmel did a great job as host. I would like to see some different winners in Lead Actress in a Comedy as well as Variety Show.

I was happy to see these fine thespians of the “small screen” win last night.

  • Tatiana Maslany – Orphan Black
  • Sarah Paulson – The People vs. OJ Simpson
  • Kate McKinnon – Saturday Night Live
  • Louie Anderson – Baskets
  • Jeffrey Tambor – Transparent
  • Courtney B. Vance – The People vs. OJ Simpson
  • Dame Maggie Smith – Downton Abbey
  • Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler – Hosting Saturday Night Live

Everything you need to know about the 2016 Emmy Awards

TV’s biggest night returns this Sunday with the 68th annual Emmy Awards. Will standbys like Game of Thrones and Veep take home best series trophies once again, or first-time series nominations for shows like The Americans, Black-ish or Mr. Robot result in any upsets? And how will Jimmy Kimmel tackle his second stint as Emmys host?

I love television and this is my favorite awards show because there seems to be a higher than usual nerd factor here than The Oscar’s which seem to be a little more reserved and traditional. TV is my favorite old-school medium.
