And Wait For The Feedback

Whenever you post anything you then wait for some sort of response to what you have created. Sometimes the wait is very short and other times the wait is very long. One should never expect 100% positive comments to ones post but when a person comes in hot with some really negative space feedback then it kind of jars you makes you feel like perhaps you should have said something different.

Here’s how I respond to negative space feedback…I delete it. Yep, delete immediately. This blog is here to promote positivity (but realism definitely has its place here) and I want to make that point clear for everyone. Yeah I am a sensitive person that’s why I take time away from Facebook when things get too hot there. My blog is a refuge, a haven and I don’t want to respond to negative stuff.

I will never get personal or attack anyone however I do reserve to be righteously angry about injustice, hatred and that sort of thing. When you write something personal and meaningful to you I think there should be some safe space and perhaps saying nothing is better than going negative.

And yet we all wait for the feedback and hope that its good, constructive and helpful.

Something About Turning The Clock Back

Some folks these days want to turn back the clock it seems. As much as they would love to go back to a time when they didn’t have to encounter people who are different from them they just can’t do it in reality.

If they could, then they should go all in. Let’s get rid of modern conveniences like The Internet and cool things like Amazon and Netflix. Make it hard to breathe and fewer restaurant choices. Medicine, who needs things to keep diabetics and others with chronic illnesses from suffering. Our cars can get less miles to the gallon and our roads won’t be as nice either.

We can go on and on in turning the clock back so that some people feel more powerful and entitled. My friends the world is a scary place these days because a lot of people are afraid out there of change because they don’t want to have to move forward. We all have a choice to embrace the future where everyone has a say and is equal or backwards where some folks live in a lot of fear. Let’s keep the ball of life moving forward because we can’t go backwards, at least I hope so.

Daily Prompt: Express

This word “Express” in my mind has two meanings I would like to explore quickly.

  1. I need to have something in my life very quickly so I am going to order it and have express shipping to get it here. Although it will cost me extra it’s so worth it.
  2. There is something I need to say and I am going to express how I feel about this, that and the other thing.

So as you see there are different ways of looking at the same word that can have different meanings. One is speed in receiving something and the other is sharing your thoughts. So if you look at the world we live in we are seeking fast ways of sharing what we think and hopefully they will buy into it.

Medicine

I feel like I am sick whenever I see a TV commercial for some sort of medication I can’t afford. Some of those medications have death as a side effect.

A Commentary On Charlottesville And Beyond

What I saw in Charlottesville on the campus of the University of Virginia last night was sickening and immoral. There is nothing right about hate. America should be better than that.

No one has a birthright to all the wealth and all the privilege in life. Just because you are from one race doesn’t give you a birthright to the great bounty given by the Creator.

There is more than enough to go around. This country has welcomed people from around the world to its shores and we are a colorful tapestry of individuals who all want to have a part of the promise that has been afforded to many for generations.

I would even go as far to say that America is only one of many places where people are free to dream, to achieve, to live, to believe and to love as they wish. The globe is full of opportunities and that is where we are in this time of history.

Tired Of Arguing Online

In the tit-for-tat world that is social media these days arguing can be exhausting. There is an old Internet saying “don’t read the comments” and its true. On Facebook you can see where there is so much pain and suffering in the feedback of people who are wanting to speak louder to get their point of view across. Back in the good old days there were debate classes that taught the fine craft of point and counterpoint. In debate you had to do your research to make your case. There was a point to debate and it was an orderly, civilized discussion of a subject.

Fighting the good fight is a noble thing but when you think about it that can just wear you out. Politics has made things so bad that it has ended friendships and caused division. I get tired of the arguing but you have to do something or say something when you see injustice going on. But man things can get tiresome online.
