A lot of people would love to win that $1.3 billion Powerball Lottery jackpot that is out there right now. However it would change everything for the winner of that fortune. One person would be giddy and millions of others would be really bummed. Money does affect every part of one’s life. It can bring some happiness but it could bring much tragedy and sadness. More dollars don’t bring much sense. People would need some sound financial advice in order to manage that enormous amount of money. Relationships can change and they won’t always be good. People come out of the woodwork to get a piece of one’s pocketbook. Is wealth worth it?It truly is a personal decision when it comes to riches.
This is one of my favorite songs on the subject. Cyndi Lauper puts it all in perspective with this song from back in the day.
No one won Saturday’s record jackpot of nearly $950 million in the multi-state Powerball lottery, officials said, driving the haul for a winning ticket in the next draw to $1.3 billion, lottery officials said.
This is crazy, $1.3 billion is a lot of money. Lottery players are going to rush to get their tickets for the next drawing. I have heard where winning the lottery has caused more problems for the winners than it has solved. Funny how that happens.
I’m watching news of the San Bernadino mass shootings today on CNN and it has me feeling very sad and a little scared for the people there. A facility that helps people with mental challenges was attacked for a reason we don’t know yet. This is yet another mass shooting in our country. It is saddening that we have such a problem with guns and violence that seems to be the norm these days.
My friends the killings have to stop. I am not a fan of guns and I think some people own them to give them a sense of power and because of paranoia. Others have guns for sport and protection either reason leaves us living in a wild west situation. There is no excuse for the shootings today or any day. Can we give peace a real chance in our country? I sure hope so.
From now on all my political and social commentary will be found here on my homepage. I cannot post anything on Facebook that involves anything you wouldn’t discuss in mixed company, or something like that. Having opposing opinions is what makes the online community great. However the volume and sometimes venom of conversations can get to be too much. So you my blogging community will get to read what I think about politics, religion and other social issues exclusively. Your feedback is always welcome, constructive criticism appreciated.
I find it interesting that people say certain things are destroying our country when in reality the things they defend do much greater harm. The people who complain a lot are the ones who see others getting the rights and privileges they have exclusively enjoyed. People feast on fear of things that are different and we all know what fear can do to a person. Yes things aren’t the way they used to be and change is a fact of reality.
We pick the wrong fights about things that really don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. I am not big on doomsday but prefer to have hope for a brighter tomorrow. Fear not is a common theme throughout scripture and maybe we should just chill out. Maybe we should work to be better and not bitter when we don’t get our way. My friends everyday is a new opportunity to make things better for everyone, not just a select few. The freedoms you have are the same freedoms people are struggling for elsewhere. Yes there are people who seek to do us harm but the best way to counter that threat is to live our lives and to share love, not hate.
Things aren’t all that bad. Don’t worry, be happy as Bobby McFerrin once said.
