Today is International Women’s Day. This is a day to honor the contributions of women around the world. Thanks to the women in our lives who make our communities and families better for us all. It takes a woman to make things work and to get the job done. You all are awesome.
Are things perfect in this union, no. Are they as horrible as some would say no. There is a new normal and we all have to live in it. The good old days are not coming back no matter how some will try to turn back the clock. Many in my country would do well to be happy with what they have and be grateful for the blessings they have. We still live in a world with poverty and war so perhaps it isn’t too bad in the USA. Unfortunately the United State of Affairs is at best fractured and factional and I am not sure about the future.
Passing laws to protect discrimination is in itself discrimination. It is 2016 and there’s too much hate that is allowed to continue. Truly it is a shame this is a thing we see daily with many in our community. No one should be treated as a second class citizen anywhere.
Walmart has closed 154 stores in 27 states, resulting in over 10,000 employee layoffs. Many of the stores that closed were the only source of groceries in the areas they served. David Begnaud is in Whitewright, Texas, where residents now have to drive 22 miles for groceries.
I saw this report tonight on the news and it’s amazing the operation that goes on to draw the numbers for Powerball. High security is a understatement.
A lot of people would love to win that $1.3 billion Powerball Lottery jackpot that is out there right now. However it would change everything for the winner of that fortune. One person would be giddy and millions of others would be really bummed. Money does affect every part of one’s life. It can bring some happiness but it could bring much tragedy and sadness. More dollars don’t bring much sense. People would need some sound financial advice in order to manage that enormous amount of money. Relationships can change and they won’t always be good. People come out of the woodwork to get a piece of one’s pocketbook. Is wealth worth it?It truly is a personal decision when it comes to riches.
This is one of my favorite songs on the subject. Cyndi Lauper puts it all in perspective with this song from back in the day.
