Mean Mug Coffeehouse was recently profiled on a national TV show called “Cheap Eats” but the food and coffee there is worth every penny. I had a meat-centric breakfast Quiche along with some spring greens. We split an apple butter swee troll that was warmed up and was yummy. The mocha iced coffee was eye-opening and refreshing. It’s one of many good shops that have made the southside of Chattanooga a hot spot to live and play.

Bread & Butter, A New Bakery Open In The #Chattanooga Area
After church this afternoon we swung by a new bakery in the Chattanooga suburb of Red Bank. This bakery has been in the works for a few months and this is their opening weekend. Bread and Butter Bakery decided to do a “soft opening” so they didn’t have the widest range of offerings but what they had today looked pretty tasty. Featured items today were scones, brownies, baguette, cookies, seasoned loaves along with some locally sourced cheeses and butter. I am excited to see what they will do in the future.
This building once was home to a Baskin Robbins 31 Ice Cream shop that some friends of mine operated for years. It’s nice to see something good going into it.
The Reason For The Season
The reason for the season is because without season food doesn’t taste as good as it should…or something like that.
NATIONAL COOKIE DAY – December 4 | National Day Calendar
National Cookie Day is observed annually on December 4th. We can thank the Dutch for more than windmills and tulips. The English word “cookie” is derived from the Dutch word “koekie” meaning little cake. There have been cookie-like hard wafers in existence for as long as baking has been documented. This is because they traveled well however, they were usually not sweet enough to be considered cookies by modern day standards.

I hope you all have had some cookies with the beverage of your choice. Coffee, milk and tea are good options. No matter what cookie you like there is one that can satisfy ones sweet tooth.
Convenience To Go
OK, this might be the most random and unusual post you read today. Bear with me.
The convenience store is one of the most ubiquitous places in many parts of our country. Socially its an equalizer because everyone needs fuel, bread, milk and yes beer. I stop by this one above a couple times a week for a guilty pleasure or just to wet my whistle. In these places you can now get pizza, espresso, freshly made sandwiches and more. Of course you can get a regular cup of coffee to keep you awake as you are on the road or headed to work.
People who visit there come from all walks of life which makes for great people watching. It can be a challenging place to work too because of the safety factor. But overall the security has gotten better over the years. All in all its a place where community stops and goes from seven in the morning to eleven at night.
Convenience to go can make life better and can keep you moving.
Saturday Morning Breakfast

Omelette, tater tots and biscuits with gravy. I love cooking breakfast on a Saturday. What was on your plate or in your bowl or in a wrapper this morning?
