Be Humble, The Rest Will Speak For Itself

In the Gospel of Luke, it says all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted. That is a lesson for everyone, whether they are a believer or not. I think it’s better to be humble and allow your heart and soul to speak for itself, rather than having a fall from grace because you think you are better than anyone else.

We need to see more acts of humility, kindness, service, and love. The culture is feeding on people who brag and think they are better because of wealth, social status, and power. Humility is power if you think about it. Every Easter in many churches, the act of foot washing is an example of what it means to do something good for others.

The Pope is saying there needs to be more acts of service to others. I can dig that. I do my best to be of service. We need more servants because too many people are trying to be in charge. Everyone talks about leadership when we need servanthood. My goal is to be a servant who doesn’t always get it right on the first try. I hope you will adopt that way of living too.

Be humble, it’s a better look for everyone involved.

If I Could Live Anywhere, Canada It Would Be!

Daily writing prompt
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

This question is an easy one. Canada. I love Ontario and have visited Toronto, Brampton, and Niagara Falls. I would also entertain New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island. Calgary looks like an interesting place. I hear Montreal is beautiful too but I am not bilingual. Saskatchewan would be interesting too especially Regina.

Meme Lists That Remind You That You Are Old

I found this on Facebook and it’s a meme designed to remind people of a certain generation they are old. I am a member of Generation X and this entire list is aimed primarily at people like me. In a way, it’s OK because it reminds me of a good time when you did stuff on this list and there was less technology involved. If you need an explanation of what some of this is I can help.

Oh, by the way, I have done all of these things.

Sunday Reflection – Haves and Have-Nots

Simply said, there are haves and have-nots in the world. Each has a place and space in the world. Their impact on the lives of people is very personal and very communal.

For have-nots, it is a matter of survival day to day, while those who have seem to have more options in life. It’s also a matter of self-esteem and worth in both situations.

Haves and have-nots can share the same space, or they will find themselves separated by attitudes beyond their control. Interestingly, people can sometimes find themselves straddling the line between the two. Economics and culture can play a big role in every part of life.

No matter what, everyone needs to know they are valued and loved. The struggle is real and we must realize that. Everyone is a paycheck away from being on either side of the fence.
