Is it more important to idolize symbols of nationality or to see to it people have equal rights and opportunities for life, liberty and happiness? Respecting an object should come second to actual people who’s lives are severely impacted by the circumstances they face. Many people live in places where they are threatened and don’t have access to the best things community to offer. To me that is more important than anything. To me the right to protest is an important because its tied to freedom of expression. When ones friends and loved ones remain oppressed then its a good thing to stand up for what is really right.

Daily Prompt: Mistake
In my almost 47 years I have made plenty of mistakes. Some more serious than others but they are still things I did intentionally or unintentionally depending on the situation. Being a human being I am not perfect and never will be. I sometimes make the same mistakes over and over again because I am crazy enough to hope for better outcomes the next time around. We all have a responsibility to own up to our mistakes because the wrong things we do have an impact on the people we know and love. Confession can help you deal with life’s mistakes. Never be so proud to say you are sorry and try, try, try not to do it again.
Slumdog Millionaire, A Terrific Movie With Determination and Heart

This movie has universal themes of survival, hope and rising above ones circumstances. Dev Patel is a great actor and shines in this great movie. I am not sure how true-to-life the situations are in it so some of my fellow Indian bloggers can help me with that question. This film won an Academy Award for best picture so it has to be good.
Daily Prompt: Youth
This is my birthday weekend and on Monday I will be 47 years old. Youth is a state of mind in as much as it’s a reality of the moment of time in which you are. Aging is inevitable, everyone grows and gets older. Youth shall be served but youth is fleeting. Being young seems to be harder in some ways and easier in others. It’s all a part of the choices you make, the people you associate with and who you want to be as you go on through life. Enjoy your youth. It’s important. Remember your youth, remember the good, shake off the bad.
Daily Prompt: Learning
Life is about growing up, growing old and learning how to navigate it all. We grow and get smarter by the things we learn in school, from others and the lessons the world teaches you every day. Learning is about opening your heart and mind to the intellectual opportunities that comes your way. We should be about learning from one another daily. Experience is painful but its the best way of learning something that will keep you going. Learning can keep you living, alive, vibrant. The seasons have a way of informing us what we need to know. Keep on learning everyone.
Women’s Equality Day | National Women’s History Project #womensequalityday
At the behest of Rep. Bella Abzug (D-NY), in 1971 the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.”The date was selected to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. This was the culmination of a massive, peaceful civil rights movement by women that had its formal beginnings in 1848 at the world’s first women’s rights convention, in Seneca Falls, New York.

Our country is stronger when our women have equal pay for equal work. Women deserve access to resources to make their lives better. The women in my life should have every advantage I do. Too many women aren’t treated with respect and dignity and that has to change.
