After The Storm

We survived some nasty storms that came through the area yesterday afternoon and evening. This line of storms carried some nasty winds and rain with loads of lightning and thunder. After the storm is a time see what it did to ones property and the surrounding area. Some places had tornadoes while others just high winds that does its own sort of damage. The funny thing is that it rained hard but there wasn’t a lot of standing water this morning in our yard. Perhaps we needed the rain more than we thought. We lost power overnight but we got it back around 6 AM this morning which was good. Needless to say we are glad we made it though.

Life’s storms come and go but after each event we can evaluate how we coped and what we need to do to survive the next event. There is a metaphor there I believe.

Rambling About Changes

Everything changes, it’s a fact of life and technology. We all have things that come along that are different and new. Some of us can handle transitions better than others. Getting used to things that are unfamiliar is a real challenge for many. Being open minded can help us adjust to things that come along in life. Nothing remains the same for too long. An idea, a revolution, a communal desire to see change can make some uncomfortable which presents a whole other set of issues. The one thing we have to do in all of life is to keep our cool and hopefully have an open mind to doing something we aren’t used to doing.

So if you are going through a lot of change, know others have been down the same road as you. It will be alright. Have faith in your own abilities to adapt to the new. We all have changes ahead that we have to cope with. Hang in there good people, things will be alright…have some faith

Rambling About Community

The things that make up community are its people, their gatherings and how they enjoy life. Over the past couple of days I have seen communities in action to make their places better. We all live somewhere and there are opportunities to experience other people in an open way. It’s important for people to engage others in commerce, communication and camaraderie. If there is to be peace in our world we have to know one another and to exchange ideas as well as merchandise at a farmers market or at a craft show. Community is important locally and globally. Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with all of us, everywhere.

Fear Not

For some people of faith they are told to fear not. It’s mentioned several times in scripture and perhaps there’s something to it. We are living in an age where paranoia runs rampant but does it have to? Yes there are things to be afraid of but you know I am of the opinion that maybe we buy into scary stuff too much. Our world can be a scary place but you know we can be tougher and fearless. Courage is a great virtue and we need more of it. If we learn to love, offer and receive grace and work to make our communities better then we have a chance. Fear not good people, its a new day, a new opportunity, a new time. Once again, fear not!

From A Fortune Cookie

Nothing motivates a man more than to see his boss put in a honest day’s work

.

I am second in command in my department at work so this makes me mindful to set an example for others on the job. Everyone needs motivation to do their best and someone to lead the way. My own boss does a good days work so I am looking to him for guidance when needed.

It’s Time To Lower That Flag

I support the move of the Confederate flag to a museum or perhaps to the pages of a history book. Americans of all stripes should work towards building a new heritage of inclusion, peace, love and reconciliation. As a southerner that flag does not speak for me because I live in the 21st century, not the 19th. We must all focus on building a new south where people of all races, genders, orientation and religions are free to live without fear.
