Something About Billionaires

Recently, many billionaires have been throwing around their money and influence. Many of them are impacting the lives of millions with their close ties to the new government. I can’t help but think about what good they could do if they just put their money not into politics but into people who are in need.

Power is seductive and it is also dangerous. I won’t mention any names but you have certainly seen their names in the news as of late. It’s sad how much money goes into buying a seat at the table where decisions about people’s lives are made. Most of the time those decisions negatively impact everyday individuals. The old saying goes money is the root of all evil or in this case, the people who have money.

As Cyndi Lauper once sang “Money Changes Everything” and its truth. Money does make the world go around. I ask how much money is enough how much power is enough? I guess the world will suffer at the hands of oligarchs who really don’t care as long as they get theirs. Greed I guess for lack of a word is good in their mindset.

Thank You Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

Today we say farewell to the Biden-Harris administration. I want to say thank you to President Joe Biden for his decades of service to Delaware and the nation. You were a solid, comforting force for the country and got us back on track after the pandemic. Kamala Harris, you were a trailblazer serving as the first woman as Vice President among many other achievements in your career in public service. It is a sad day for many. I know I am sad. Let’s hope for the best.

The World Needs More Canada

From the Indigo Bookstore at Eaton Centre in Toronto.

The world needs more Canada! I am supporting this wholly great sovereign nation against those from my country, the United States, who want to do harm to it.

The World Today

Today is the anniversary of the January 6, 2021 riots on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. It looks like Trump got away with that one. Also, congress certified Trump’s election in November 2024. All of that sucks. I hate Donald Trump.

Justin Trudeau announced he is stepping down as Canada’s prime minister and Labour Party leader. I like Justin, he’s cool. I don’t relish the Conservative Party leader Pierre Polievere being elected in March or April.

I am sure there are other things to be in a tizzy about. I don’t think I want to hear them. But the day isn’t over yet.

A Very Serious Disconnect

This country has given us Mister Rogers Neighborhood, The Muppets, Star Trek and Star Wars. It also gave us Taylor Swift, Sesame Street, Beyonce, Bob Ross, and many more icons and positive influencers. We are also about the arts, music, and storytelling. I am puzzled about how it can elect someone who goes against all that cultural normalcy. Those people taught us grace, community, acceptance, inclusion, and good triumph over evil.

I think we may have forgotten how to be good to one another. Loving your neighbors as yourself. Adopting the golden rule and looking out for one another. It’s hard to believe that people will buy into fear when there is an alternative. Yeah, this is about what happened on November 5th. Growing up I was led to believe that bad people should face the consequences of their actions.

There is so much serious disconnect right now. It’s just disappointing and very puzzling. Right now we have to look out for those who will be most impacted by the change in government. Some people regret the choices that were made. I don’t need it but I have friends who do.

It’s all so weird and sad. Yeah, weird. Sad.

Schoolhouse Rock Didn’t Prepare Us For This

If you know Schoolhouse Rock from the 1970s this should make sense.

It’s going to be a hard 4 years.
