A New Look For My Site…What Do You Think?

I have made a significant change to my blog. I have made look more like a personal homepage. When folks visit my page I want them to see my skills with WordPress. On the front page you will see links to my most recent posts and ways to connect to me elsewhere. I also wanted to feature my city of Chattanooga, a place that influences much of my blogging. The Motif theme is a great theme that is easy to read, navigate and customize. I liked my previous theme but I thought there was too much content to see all at once.

So my fellow bloggers, what do you think? Your feedback is welcome.

A Note To My Followers

Thank you for your kindness to me and my city during this tragic time here. My posts have been very focused on this tragedy because it is impacting a place I love very much and its people. One thing this blog is dedicated to being is relevant and timely. Current events are an important thing to chronicle. News and information are valuable parts of our culture and I want to capture.  Sharing our lives means the things that happens to us daily. To everyone who is still hanging with me, I appreciate you all.

A Social Ramble

I find that WordPress, Twitter and sometimes Tumblr are better places to be than Facebook. I don’t know what it is but I think Facebook can bring someone down. Sure there are tons of pet videos but that can’t be the only thing keeping someone there. Blogging seems to be a more open social environment for better discussion. I would so love to log out of Facebook but it keeps people coming back because of the connections you have there. Not everyone blogs so that is a problem. Maybe I just need to logout of Facebook for awhile. I would much rather blog, Tweet and Instagram anyway.

Rambling About Changes

Everything changes, it’s a fact of life and technology. We all have things that come along that are different and new. Some of us can handle transitions better than others. Getting used to things that are unfamiliar is a real challenge for many. Being open minded can help us adjust to things that come along in life. Nothing remains the same for too long. An idea, a revolution, a communal desire to see change can make some uncomfortable which presents a whole other set of issues. The one thing we have to do in all of life is to keep our cool and hopefully have an open mind to doing something we aren’t used to doing.

So if you are going through a lot of change, know others have been down the same road as you. It will be alright. Have faith in your own abilities to adapt to the new. We all have changes ahead that we have to cope with. Hang in there good people, things will be alright…have some faith

The WordPress Reader

The reader on the WordPress dashboard has updated and functions differently. It looks more streamlined and works better. Whenever the Tumblr dashboard would be updated and changed people would go nuts because they don’t handle change very well for some reason. Good work WordPress!

A Bloggers Frustration: Quick Feedback

It is frustrating when you visit a blog where you can’t like the post or leave feedback easily. Blogging on a network like WordPress or Tumblr gives you a sense of connection and community that is hard to do with some platforms and self hosted blogs. I think you can install the WordPress jetpack to connect it with WordPress.com or another service like Disqus where you can plug in a commenting app to your blog.

Perhaps this is a silly first world problem but you know I am kind of digitally lazy like that. However giving the reader the opportunity for instant feedback can give your blog a better feel of interactiveness.

Comments and likes are feedback which is the life blood of many blogs and their writers. They need it to help guide their posts and writings. So a quick feedback is better than nothing at all. So I think.
