Real Work Struggles Hope In The Midst Of Struggle

When ones job depends on the cooperation of others it has its own unique challenges. People are so random in how they will respond. Nothing is truly predictable anymore. Like the cliche says the struggle is real. Just do the best you can and hope for the best. Yes those are 3 cliches in a row but the sentiments are needed to keep one going.

Hang in there everyone including me.

Fake It Til You Make It Faith Edition

Everyone has some burnout in their lives. No matter what one is into there can come a time when you have reached over-saturation. For me, it’s my faith. I am tired of seeing Jesus Christ brought to the level of a Genie In A Bottle. He’s no Alladin. I am still observant and I haven’t missed church in a very long time. Even when traveling I don’t miss. However, in some religious circles, Jesus’ name is dropped like he was a viral celebrity of today.

I guess part of it is that I am still mad at God for my father’s passing in August of last year. I see Jesus’ good name used in vain by those who seek to do great harm in their dogma and doctrine through fundamentalism. Yes, some parts of Christianity are troubled by many issues that have caused great damage to its reputation. I personally don’t use the word “Christian” to describe myself. I prefer Episcopalian or Anglican.

At this point in history, faith is being perverted by some in political circles to justify stripping rights from people based upon “religious freedom”. That doesn’t help matters. I suppose Jesus should come back and turn over some tables and stand in the gap so people who are just trying to live their lives in peace and who make great contributions to the world won’t be stoned or worse.

Yeah, I am burned out. And it’s OK to admit this. God is big enough to handle this sort of thing.

Blogging, Religious Just So You Know

I am not a religious blogger. However, I am a blogger who is religious. The focus of this blog is the whole of my life in which religion and faith play just a part of. I believe in a higher heavenly power who is more commonly known as God. His/her son is pretty cool too.

Lately, I found I can breathe and believe as I wish in a mixed community of people. Sometimes being in the company of some who are religious you find yourself having serious and sometimes heated conversations about theology, doctrine, and dogma. Here on my blog, I would rather not face that. I just want to have a big tent here as much as possible. You can’t always do that elsewhere. So don’t be shocked if you see me post things that are secular and sometimes irreverent.

My religious posts are meant to inform and not proselytize. I don’t identify as Christian but I do identify as Episcopalian/Anglican and I find that suits me better. Now I do say that blogging is my second religion. Just so you know.

My Homeland Lies Elsewhere

We have a world where being different is not cool in reality. Conforming to ideals and ideas that come from cruelty and hate seems to be expected. People who you thought were your neighbors are the ones wanting to harm you instead. Waving a flag just because you are expected to or obeying the words of leaders who seek to cause people more harm than good is not what some folks signed up for well they were born into it so they don’t have much choice in the matter.

My friends, my homeland lies elsewhere

I dream of a place where people are allowed to be their authentic selves. Space so they can breathe and dream and hope and love with passion. A time where they can live long days and nights with little cares in the world. Where people will do no harm and legislate how we are to live our lives. May we find this place sooner rather than later. May it come in our day. No matter our gender, sexuality, religion, politic, ethnicity, race and all the other labels may everyone have a home to call their own and a seat at every table. This is where I want to call home.

You Have Value, You Are Enough

As people seek ways to live and be their best selves they need to know they have value. I am not talking about money but something much more important that as they go through life they have something that can make their world better. Value and purpose in my mind go hand in hand.

As we discover our purpose what we do has value to those who are benefiting from the gifts you bring to the table. So many people are seeking their place and where they fit in. Some people are misfits but that doesn’t mean they are relegated to be on the outside looking in. They too can fit somewhere in someplace.

The value of a man (or woman) should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.

Albert Einstein

People who are getting older want to be of use and to know they still matter in the grand scheme of things. For those who seek to serve they should be given every opportunity to do so. There is much work to be done and people really want to make a difference if you think about it. So my friends no matter who you are you have value, you are most certainly enough.

Freaky Friday – January 31, 2020

I’m glad it’s Friday but today seems a little freaky. Maybe with national and world events keeping many on edge it’s understandable. From impeachment to Brexit to the virus in China a lot of stuff is going on at the moment.

I suppose we need to be as resolute and do our parts to be kind and inspire some courage. Fear not good people. Grace and peace and love. Make it a good last day of January.

As always keep on blogging my good people.
