Something About Changing Tech, Changing Times

I have a co-worker who gets frustrated by technology and how fast things are changing. Everyone knows that as soon as one phone is released its just going to get replaced by a newer model a year later. Technology is something that has planned obsolescence as a part of the whole business model.

Market forces cause decision makers to make hard choices in the future of their products. What we want now might not be what we want later. It’s important to be adaptable and fluid in life especially when it comes to devices. Even the very software and hardware that connects us can change rapidly and often times in a surprising way.

Being able to learn new things is vital to keeping us all relevant to what is happening today. Tomorrow is always upon us and we have to be ready because what is cutting edge today could be out of date in a minute or two. As tech changes so does the times because we have gone from a Blockbuster Video world to a Netflix world. Everyone likes things in an instant today. Streaming is everything isn’t it. We even shop differently. Thanks Amazon.com for your click to order and arriving on my doorstep the next day or so.

I think the key thing we have to remember is that the source code for everything is changing and we have to learn to keep up. This sort of change is something I don’t mind I just need to remind myself that I have to keep evolving and adapting as time goes by.

Daily Prompt: Later

Everyone is lazy about something or another. We put things off for another time. Later is when we choose to deal with something important like bill paying or taxes or life choices. I say I will take care of that later but you know later comes when you least expect it and that thing you said you would take care of doesn’t get taken care of. Later is a future point in time but it’s also when we forget because other things have come along to distract us.

What is truly sad is when we say we will see someone later but later comes and goes or later never comes.

Do things now, see people now. Later isn’t always guaranteed.

Daily Prompt: Immerse

When you want to experience something fully and completely you immerse yourself into the things that will inform and change you. There are things that require you dive into the deep end of the pool. So often we find ourselves becoming one with the subject matter at hand as to give us deeper insights and life changing information. To learn something new you have to have an immersion experience so that you will pick up on it quickly.

The new post composing layout

It appears that our friends at WordPress.com have changed the post composer. Your posting options and settings are on the right while there is more room on the left to create awesome works of genius and inspiration. I am OK with change as long as it makes sense.

Daily Prompt: Nervous

The uncertainty of the world has everyone on edge. Our nerves can only take so much. We all have been nervous about something or another. We have all waited for something we really wanted and we were not sure we were going to get it. Perhaps it was the results of a test that could determine a school grade or our quality of life. There is an element of fear in being nervous because it involved the unknown and a level of anxiety about where things are going to go in the future. Nervousness is a legit emotion and feeling at times it is something you have to feel and experience.

Something About Education, Transportation and Innovation

There are things that keep a community and our world moving. Education, transportation and innovation. When you fail to fund any of these three things then things come to a stand still. People need education to prepare them for the future to innovate and to solve the worlds problems. We rise and fall on the success of our students who will lead the way of the future.

Transportation leads to its own innovations and gets people to where they need to go for work among other things. I see a lot of places where those three things are bottled up in local, state and federal politics. Those three things should never be a political hot button but they are. When an entertainer gives $1 million to a local school system that tells you something.

It seems like the future of the world unfortunately is dependent on people who are making decisions that will have serious impact on the present and the future. Too bad these folks haven’t learned the lessons of the past and no road or innovation has made it possible to travel back in time so we can learn the hard lessons of generations that have come before.

Education is the most important weapon to change the world.
