Life These Days Is Like A Fire Hydrant

I have to say, there is so much going on in the world that it feels like we are drinking from a fully open fire hydrant. The world has gone crazy, and it’s one thing after another. I am overwhelmed by it all, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. That fire hydrant is coming at us quick, and it feels like we are drowning.

Every day the news of the country and the world seems to be getting worse. Joy seems to be in short supply.

I don’t want to be tested in life like this. I feel bad for the people who are worse off than me, and it’s like two fire hydrants for them. Every day feels like a week, and every week feels like a month. Something has to change, and I don’t know when it will. Grace and peace to us all.

The Gilmore Girls of Stars Hollow

So, for the fun of it, I am checking out Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, a mother-daughter duo from the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Gilmore Girls is a cult classic TV show that aired from 2000-2007. The show featured a blend of humor and drama. It was the flagship show of The WB Network and finished its run on The CW.

It’s good as a dude to check out new shows outside my wheelhouse. I have checked out the pilot and the first episode. It’s a good show. I will give it a few episodes.

It’s The 2025 Emmys, Television’s Biggest Night

Tonight is the 2025 Emmy Awards from Los Angeles, California. It’s Television’s biggest night. I am watching for the star power and celebrity factor. We need a distraction from the reality of the moment. I am puling for the broadcast television nominees.

Comedian Nate Bargatze is the host, and I am looking forward to seeing his monologue and how he will bring his brand of comedy to this annual event.

Learning About Episcopal Stuff At St. Peter’s

I’m a member of the Episcopal Church and at church this morning we are doing an Episcopal 101 course for newcomers and longtime folks. It’s good to learn more.

Hello Fellow Bloggers

I Am Taking A Serious Facebook Break

I have taken many Facebook breaks over the years. But this week I felt like I needed one because of all the political stuff happening. The murder of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk seems to have struck a nerve with lots of people, including me. Am I sad he died, no. Murder is never the problem.

But to venerate this man for his horrible politics and the things he says about people leaves me puzzled, curious and sad. I have seen happening on Facebook and yes some on Threads and Bluesky.

So many people I know personally not only digitally are reacting to this in a way that is not good for me mentally, is why I needed the break. Before something is said that fractures my long-standing relationships, I just left for good reasons.

So for the time being, I have decided to focus my connections elsewhere. There are lots of good people here on WordPress I would like to connect with more, as well as on my other socials. The most important people online, I know I can reach out to in other ways.

Let’s make this Facebook sabbatical fun and productive. Facebook, I will see you later.
