The past can offer some comfort when the present delivers chaos and vice versa.

Before I agree to 2021, I need to see some Terms and Conditions. Don’t we all. Who knows what next year will hold? That is going to take a lot of hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Most everyone pays taxes. Taxation has been around since the beginning of civilization. In history tax collectors were not looked at with favor. Death and taxes are eternal it seems.
Not everyone likes to pay taxes though. Some would say taxation is theft, but I disagree. To have a functional community that provides services like fire, police, trash collection, roads, defense, education, healthcare and the like then paying is necessary. Taxes are a part of citizenship if you ask me.
I would rather live in a community that can make life better for everyone and to help it function properly. I believe in being a good steward of that money paid into by citizens. Don’t spend more than you have and raise taxes when it’s necessary.
Those who are in leadership should be among the first to pay as an example to their fellow community members and countrymen/women. If you want your country to be great, then you got to put your money where your mouth and policies are.
I believe everyone should pay their fair share and they should get what they pay for. A good trade off if you ask me. Loopholes should be closed so that no one can get away with not paying. I feel the wealthy can pony up a little more not to penalize them but to alleviate the burden on those who are not as well off.

Well, It’s Monday again. Time to get back to doing whatever we do during the week. Let’s do our best today. Do good for others and yourselves at the same time. Peace to you all.
My friends my butt was kicked spiritually today. At church, this morning my priest admonished/encouraged our congregation to put brother/sisterhood above politics. Everyone was called out in his homily/sermon. I know he is right that my love for my brothers and sisters in humanity is more important than politics. That is truth.
Also, truth is that my faith informs my politics as to what makes me, me. Right now, too many people are suffering and there is so much injustice that you cannot ignore it. Righteousness sometimes means disagreeing with your brothers and sisters in a profound way.
It is my hope that I can learn to be more loving and caring for those who disagree with my personal brand of theology and politics. When it comes to the ones you love the most you must make that personal decision how you will react to what they have to say as it comes to their own politics and philosophy.
I suppose this is what reconciliation is about. That word is about action and challenging work. It’s what the world needs more of these days. Good luck to all of us in all that.
What my priest said is something that I hope to apply to my life. However, it won’t be easy. We are human, tribal, and very stubborn. Let’s see how it all goes.
