Hi there, my name is Tony Burgess (my friends call me T-Bird) from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. I am a believer, bleeding heart, idealist, and blogger. I'm married to Laura the Soup Diva and a dog dad to Frankie, Cody, and Mikey. Daily I work for a blood bank recruiting donors. My blog is where I chronicle and curate the sacred, serious, and silly things in my life. I am a member of The Episcopal Church. Thank you for connecting with me. Grace, peace, and love!

From My Local Newspaper – America Is Out of Order

At this moment, America is out of order. Lots of things are being broken and people are not safe. It’s amazing how much crazy shit is going on. People are fighting back, but still there is a sense of hopelessness among many. One can only do what they can do to make things better. Stuff cannot be ignored anymore.

Eleven Years At Blood Assurance

Today is my eleventh work anniversary at Blood Assurance, a Chattanooga based blood bank. It is hard to believe that I have been dialing for blood donors for this long. Today is about being thankful for the work and opportunities I have been given. My work here has been about saving lives and making a difference. Thanks to all my teammates past and present. Here’s to the future.

A Palm Sunday 2025 Reflection

You know, Jesus went into this week knowing what was going to happen. He understood the assignment. I think those around him didn’t fully comprehend what was about to happen at the end of the week. The thing about holy week is to put oneself in the minds of the disciples, who will ask themselves on Friday what in the hell is going on. Some of this is political violence, but most of it is one person being obedient to his death. This is not a week of peace, it’s a week of feeling the chaos that is to come.

My Palm Sunday At St. Peter’s

My Palm Sunday fit this morning. I helped serve communion this morning too at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. We are in the home stretch to Easter. I hope all who celebrate will have a mindful and spiritual one.

Easter Prep – Palms and Easter Eggs

Today friends from church gathered to fold palms into crosses and fill Easter eggs in advance of Holy Week activities. Palm Sunday the palms will be received and used to signify Jesus entrance into Jerusalem. The Easter eggs will be hunted on Easter Sunday morning. Thanks to a good crew St. Peter’s Episcopal Church will be ready to go. My friends Easter is hard work but good work.

Thought Of The Day 04112025

Give me American humanity over American prosperity these days. The gross desire for greed is morally wrong. It’s time for something different. Like what we had four months ago.
