Something About Music

Music is supposed to set our souls free of pain but sometimes it does the opposite. It should give people an idea of what you are going through. When a person dies it’s the music that gives us clues of their heartache. Sometimes the music covers up what is happening down deep. May the music of your heart be something soothing, comforting, healing.

Something About Being Bland

I am very tame compared to many bloggers I encounter. My story is one of playing it safe and being a good guy. Frankly I am more bland than anything. There is a saying that good guys finish last, well I haven’t finished last but I am a person who hasn’t always been the most popular person.

I don’t have a best friend who is a non-relative, nor do I have a squad that goes everywhere and does everything. Perhaps there is a time in life when you just settle down and live your life in a way that isn’t all about not being bored. Trust me being bored is a good thing sometimes. Staying still is OK. Being at ease and at peace in your life means that you have been there and done that or you aren’t interested in keeping up with the Joneses.

The key thing is that you need to be yourself and hope those who see you as genuine will gravitate to you. Some of them will be fabulous while some will be chill. As I said in an earlier post having a nerd/geek/dork in your life will make life better.

Something About Work

Whatever your work is today may it be fruitful, fulfilling and fun. Your work isn’t always easy and isn’t always appreciated but know you are making the world turn. Be kind to all who work along side you from the janitor to the CEO. Teamwork makes the dream work. Work smart, not hard. Make the most of your situation. Grace and peace.

Something About Making A Decision

Style vs. substance. Performance over polish. Chocolate or vanilla. Pepsi or Coke.

In life there are things we must consider when making a decision. You could use one of those Venn diagrams to help you make your decision or just use a gut instinct. Either way you must have the facts lined up in order to make up your mind and hope for the best. This is where the rubber meets the road of adulting.

venn-diagram

No matter what you decide you have to figure out what is the best for your situation at the time. The diagram above indicates that you might be able to have the best of both worlds but often times that isn’t so easy. Whatever is in your head can conquer what your heart wants. Checks and balances also play into every decision.

Whatever you have to decide take time for discernment, discussion and consultation before making a choice. Yes we all want A & B but sometimes C is where we should go.

Something About Identity

Ones identity is a highly personal thing. We make up our identity as we go along by the experiences we have. It changes us, informs us and perhaps colors our view of ourselves and others. Perhaps we should understand ourselves before attempting to understand others. Just saying.

Something About Memories

Memories can be great but they can also obscure our view of the current reality of a situation. It’s nice to look back but sometimes it can prevent needed change. Lately I have discovered this truth to be hard but necessary. I just wish pain wasn’t a part of it all.
