Unpacking Your Stuff

Today I spent some time unpacking some stuff from the luggage of my heart and soul. I don’t know why I haven’t done this sooner. Journaling independent of one’s blog is a good way to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper or pixels. Your experiences shape who you are and if they can help someone else then its a good thing. Now not everything has to or should be shared, everyone is entitled to keeping things close to home. You owe it to yourself to unpack things to get it off your shoulders.

Perhaps I need to do more exploring things rattling around in my head using a word processor vs. WordPress. A private stream of consciousness can help you organize your thoughts and to make sense of things that trouble your soul. Many of you do this already so this is old hat, for me this is a new thing I hope to do more of because I find writing stuff out can help me make more sense of it all.

Hello October 2016, Wow You Are Here!

october-scholarships-2014

I can’t believe it’s October. This year is flying by, which it seems to do this time of year. Before you know it we will be in full-blown holiday mode from the end of the month to the end of the year. Pretty amazing if you ask me. Let’s have a great month everyone.

Bacon Cheeseburger Soup

This concept for a deconstructed cheeseburger in soup form is tasty and healthy. We enjoyed it very much.

Laura B's avatarThe Soup Diva

  • 1 to 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 12 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded greens*
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 1 15 oz can petite diced tomatoes
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tsp)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill weed
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Croutons for garnish (I made mine using leftover hamburger buns)
Brown beef in a medium skillet; drain  and add onion, garlic, Worcestershire, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. When onion has softened, transfer to slow cooker or large pot. Add tomatoes, greens, mustard, and dill, and stir well. (If you are short on time, you can also just brown the beef then dump everything in at once.) Cook 4-6 hours on low (30-60 minutes on medium for stove top). Turn off heat…

The Weekend Is Here, Finally!

This week I worked 4o hours plus 3 hours overtime. We are a little short-handed at work and as team leader I am stepping up to keep things going and to provide extra support. Leadership sometimes requires that you whatever it takes to meet the demands of the business you are in.

Now the weekend is here and there are some good things planned. Right now on Friday night I am just happy to be home, chilling out and having a relaxing evening. Man I am tired though.

How many people have ended friendships over the election? – CBS News

Seven percent of voters have lost or ended a friendship as a result of this year’s presidential race, according to a new Monmouth University survey…via How many people have ended friendships over the election? – CBS News

Personally I can say I have had some strained friendships and perhaps some relationships that will never be the same because of this presidential election here in the USA. Politics is personal. There are two things you don’t talk about, religion and politics (and sports in some places) in polite company anyway. After November the nation will take time to heal after this brutal cycle. Let’s hope we can all have a cold one after all this is said and done. Reconciliation will be hard but it’s worth doing.

Status Update

It’s hard to believe its the last day of September. Tomorrow begins a new month of possibilities and opportunities. Oh yeah it’s Friday BTW. I am working hard to finish out the week. Have a swell day.
