Vintage Christmas Toy Series

Leading up to Christmas I am going to be doing a series of posts featuring pictures of the toys of my childhood and youth. I was a child in the 1970s and came of age in the 1980s so some of you will be seeing these again or for the first time. I hope you will enjoy it.

Here is the first toy!

Hello Friends On This Cyber Monday #cybermonday

Hello good people, it’s Cyber Monday. The big day for online shopping during this holiday season. This year everyday has been “Cyber Monday” considering many folks are taking it safe and avoiding the malls and shops due to the Coronavirus. No matter how you are shopping I hope you get a great deal or two.

And if you aren’t shopping have a great day and carry on.

Six Word Story

Being thankful gives peace and joy.

Pre-Thanksgiving Thoughts

Thanksgiving in America is a time for families of all types and friends of all types coming together to give gratitude for the things they have in this life. Granted it has a problematic past when you look at it with 21st century eyes and sensibility.

I will admit a lot has happened since that first Thanksgiving celebration that has not been good. However, I believe it can be a positive holiday for people where you can remember the past but forge a new future. In the days we live in being grateful is important.

For those celebrating where they are not fully accepted for one reason or another, I hear you and you have my support. Some folks cannot go home because they have been kicked out for living their truth on their own terms. LGBTQ folks especially. May your future be one of reconciliation and restoration.

As you observe and celebrate remember those who have been lost due to illness, violence, racism, and the Coronavirus. Many tables will have spaces where loved ones a year ago were celebrating. Much has changed since 2019 and I understand that fully.

Be good to one another. Seek peace and mercy as we head into this holiday season. lean on one another and be kind. Love to you all good people. Remember a big table is better than a small one.

I will do my best to lighten things up here on the blog coming up. But as in anything life will have its say which influences what you see here.

Sunday Reflection: Doing Good For Others

Some people need the care and comfort of others in times of need or distress. Whether it be sickness, incarceration, homelessness, and situations where people need assistance, we are all charged with acting. I believe that people have a connection that requires us to act on behalf of our higher power to give hope and grace.

In the season we are in, charity is needed more than ever but with COVID-19 added to the mix people need help even more. So much of what we are seeing is people losing their jobs, a change in the routines in life, and loss of life.

We must be about the work of making our world at this time the best it can be. It is not easy but when everyone comes together it can be something special.

My friends in this holiday season do not forget about others who need a hand. We have a responsibility to care for the least of these because when we do that we can make this mean world a better place.
