Fake It Til You Make It Faith Edition

Everyone has some burnout in their lives. No matter what one is into there can come a time when you have reached over-saturation. For me, it’s my faith. I am tired of seeing Jesus Christ brought to the level of a Genie In A Bottle. He’s no Alladin. I am still observant and I haven’t missed church in a very long time. Even when traveling I don’t miss. However, in some religious circles, Jesus’ name is dropped like he was a viral celebrity of today.

I guess part of it is that I am still mad at God for my father’s passing in August of last year. I see Jesus’ good name used in vain by those who seek to do great harm in their dogma and doctrine through fundamentalism. Yes, some parts of Christianity are troubled by many issues that have caused great damage to its reputation. I personally don’t use the word “Christian” to describe myself. I prefer Episcopalian or Anglican.

At this point in history, faith is being perverted by some in political circles to justify stripping rights from people based upon “religious freedom”. That doesn’t help matters. I suppose Jesus should come back and turn over some tables and stand in the gap so people who are just trying to live their lives in peace and who make great contributions to the world won’t be stoned or worse.

Yeah, I am burned out. And it’s OK to admit this. God is big enough to handle this sort of thing.

Little Women – A Terrific Movie With An Important Story #littlewomen

little-women-poster“Little Women” is a classic American tale of four strong sisters who love one another and are trying to make the best of the situation that the culture of the late 1800s that holds them back. The story has been made into movies for the cinema and mini-series for TV.

An all-star cast led by Greta Gerwig (who should have been nominated for an Oscar for best director for this adaptation) made a great movie for today’s audience. I really enjoyed the performances and the casting was great.

Themes of female empowerment are all throughout this as author Louisa May Alcott wrote it. However, empowerment is the freedom for women to make their own decisions about their own lives and to keep what they earn even in marriage.

It’s also a story about family sticking together no matter what happens in the world they live in even during a war. There are tragedies that impact the March family and their neighbors.

The March sisters were awesome and as I say the power of a woman who is free to be who she wants is unstoppable. Fangirls are one of the greatest forces for good past and present. This story is one of those that should remind women everywhere that sisterhood and friendship are vital. See this movie. It will move you and give you encouragement no matter if you are a little or big woman or even a man.

Creatives Creating Creations Of Chaos

Creative people are a different sort of people. They have a spirit about them that is meant to change the world. With their work comes a responsibility to inspire others and make things better for everyone. Talented people are everywhere and it’s awesome to see them doing what they do. Unfortunately, many creatives have been censored and lost their lives for living their truth and answering the call of life. Some works have been deemed too radical, too scandalous, too revolutionary.

Art like beauty is in the eye of the beholder or in this case creator. The ability to change hearts and minds through art, music, literature, dance is truly powerful. I hope my blogging can do that in some small measure. The greatest thing we can do is to love one another and to inspire others to do the same through our gifts and talents. Everyone has a gift they can share.

Originals are nonconformists, people who not only have new ideas but take action to champion them. They are people who stand out and speak up. Originals drive creativity and change in the world. They’re the people you want to bet on.

Adam Grant

Being original is important. Anything new is worth exploring and if it doesn’t work out then try again. Any inventor will share their experience with you. Creativity is indeed a process and you want to get behind those who are doing it.

All-in-all let your light shine through whatever medium you have chosen to express yourself. Be brave and have fun shaking things up along the way. Don’t worry about causing chaos all the good people do it. Besides some everyone needs little shaking up.

Blogging, Religious Just So You Know

I am not a religious blogger. However, I am a blogger who is religious. The focus of this blog is the whole of my life in which religion and faith play just a part of. I believe in a higher heavenly power who is more commonly known as God. His/her son is pretty cool too.

Lately, I found I can breathe and believe as I wish in a mixed community of people. Sometimes being in the company of some who are religious you find yourself having serious and sometimes heated conversations about theology, doctrine, and dogma. Here on my blog, I would rather not face that. I just want to have a big tent here as much as possible. You can’t always do that elsewhere. So don’t be shocked if you see me post things that are secular and sometimes irreverent.

My religious posts are meant to inform and not proselytize. I don’t identify as Christian but I do identify as Episcopalian/Anglican and I find that suits me better. Now I do say that blogging is my second religion. Just so you know.
