It’s Not Hard To Say

White supremacy sucks. It’s not very hard to say. Just saying.

2021 Terms and Conditions

Before I agree to 2021, I need to see some Terms and Conditions. Don’t we all. Who knows what next year will hold? That is going to take a lot of hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Death and Taxes

Most everyone pays taxes. Taxation has been around since the beginning of civilization. In history tax collectors were not looked at with favor. Death and taxes are eternal it seems.

Not everyone likes to pay taxes though. Some would say taxation is theft, but I disagree. To have a functional community that provides services like fire, police, trash collection, roads, defense, education, healthcare and the like then paying is necessary. Taxes are a part of citizenship if you ask me.

I would rather live in a community that can make life better for everyone and to help it function properly. I believe in being a good steward of that money paid into by citizens. Don’t spend more than you have and raise taxes when it’s necessary.

Those who are in leadership should be among the first to pay as an example to their fellow community members and countrymen/women. If you want your country to be great, then you got to put your money where your mouth and policies are.

I believe everyone should pay their fair share and they should get what they pay for. A good trade off if you ask me. Loopholes should be closed so that no one can get away with not paying. I feel the wealthy can pony up a little more not to penalize them but to alleviate the burden on those who are not as well off.

Sunday Reflection: Compassion Is Powerful

Compassion is powerful. It is the act of feeling concern and pity for the misfortunes of others. It is so needed in a world where people are impacted by the Coronavirus, wildfires in the west, hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico, and regular situations of poverty, hunger, depression, and the like. Sometimes it means forgiving huge debts that would be impossible to repay like those who have a tough time making rent, paying medical bills, and the like.

Compassion is powerful in that it can take the pressure off people who are at their breaking point. Desperate people who through no fault of their own cannot seem to get ahead. Sometimes the system just doesn’t work for them. It means being fair and just which can mean the difference in the lives of those who need it most. The important thing to know is that you could be the person in peril, facing a mountain you cannot climb and one paycheck away from losing it all. We are all in that boat whether we like to admit it or not.

Compassion is powerful in that it works both ways. Everyone is worthy of it. Now that is not to say that one should compassion be a way for someone to take advantage of you, but it can be a way that shows a better way of living.

Compassion is powerful in that you can find your way of doing that for others. Now is not the time to be focused on ourselves but to make the world a better place by giving our friends and neighbors a much-needed break. Harness that power you must give breath and life to those in need.
