Discover Challenge: Superhero

Superheroes are a huge part of the pop culture because they help us to aspire to do greater things. We all have in our minds what a superhero is to look like and to do. They are to leap tall buildings in a single bound or perhaps sweep in to save the day. Some of them use mutant powers to make things equal for everyone.

We know the names from Marvel and DC universes but the heroes I wanna talk about don’t wear capes. People who get up in the morning to do a days work are heroes. First-responders are great heroes who go into danger to save lives, fight fires, give breath back into people whose lives are slipping away. Teachers who prepare students for the world of tomorrow are heroic. A person who wears the uniform of their country to defend it are heroes. People who give their time, talent and treasure. Blood donors who give to save 3 lives. Parents and families are heroes who do their part to contribute to community and civilization. Some heroes stand up to fight for the rights of everyone.

Superheroes come in all shapes, sizes, races, orientation and gender. My heroes have been my spouse, parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends. Everyone has the chance to be a super hero if they make the choice to do so.

The Thing About Saints

No saint is a true saint in every sense of the word. First of all every saint is a human being who isn’t perfect, makes mistakes and does bad things from time to time. Perfection is impossible. Looking for the good in people is difficult in a world full of cynics and people looking for those gotcha moments to tear people down. I believe there is saint-like characteristics in most people, maybe we would be better if we encouraged people to exhibit those traits more often. A person is known by their spirit and the fruit they bear. Kindness and love can make people strive to be Saints despite their imperfections.

A Theme Flip-Flop, Back To Twenty-Fourteen

So I must be the most indecisive blogger when it comes to their theme. Today I switched back to the Twenty -Fourteen theme because it just looks more modern with lots of spots for content and connecting. This is my blog and it’s meant to evolve over time and change depending on my needs. Thanks for sticking around good people.Screenshot 2016-09-01 at 11.43.25 PM

A Ramble About Protesting

Is it more important to idolize symbols of nationality or to see to it people have equal rights and opportunities for life, liberty and happiness? Respecting an object should come second to actual people who’s lives are severely impacted by the circumstances they face. Many people live in places where they are threatened and don’t have access to the best things community to offer. To me that is more important than anything. To me the right to protest is an important because its tied to freedom of expression. When ones friends and loved ones remain oppressed then its a good thing to stand up for what is really right.
