Daily Prompt: Identity

Ones identity is an outward and inward expression of who they are. Everything from race, gender, occupation, orientation, religion, family, community and education make us who we are in many ways. Our identity can come from people and things that influence us. How we live and work can be a part of telling someone who we are. Sometimes our identity can be a trademark and sometimes it can be a liability. Our connections can identify who we are. Next time you take a look at your ID you can get a snapshot of who you are and where you come from. The most important thing is to be yourself as your primary identity.

Daily Prompt: Express

This word “Express” in my mind has two meanings I would like to explore quickly.

  1. I need to have something in my life very quickly so I am going to order it and have express shipping to get it here. Although it will cost me extra it’s so worth it.
  2. There is something I need to say and I am going to express how I feel about this, that and the other thing.

So as you see there are different ways of looking at the same word that can have different meanings. One is speed in receiving something and the other is sharing your thoughts. So if you look at the world we live in we are seeking fast ways of sharing what we think and hopefully they will buy into it.

Daily Prompt: Believe

If you have been coming around this here blog of mine you have seen a post or two about faith, religion, spirituality and that sort of thing. Yes, I am a believer, a believer in a loving and caring creator who is here to offer the world amazing things. God, Yahweh, Allah, Great Spirit no matter what your name for the creator is there is something to believe in if you are so inclined. (I love Jesus and I cuss a little, drink a little too).

Now I don’t believe in a creator who is destructive, mean-spirited and vengeful. We get enough of that from human beings who can and have used what they believe to marginalize people because they don’t fit in. It’s sad how many people have been tossed aside because their beliefs and faith aren’t what some people think it should be. I believe there can be a middle way or Via Media.

There is also the need to respect those who have chosen not to believe, although they seem to reflect the light and love in the god they don’t believe in better than those who believe. What you believe is your own business and what I believe in is a big table, a wide circle and there is room for more.

I love and respect you my blogging community. Believe it or not.

Daily Prompt: Imaginary

Socially as a kid I had it tough. I didn’t have a lot of friends. Didn’t get invited to many things. Sure I went to the occasional birthday party and church youth group stuff but I didn’t do a lot of the fun things my peers seemed to enjoy. For a long time I had an imaginary friend. His name was Jerry. I spent a lot of time with him because I needed a friend that wasn’t family. Imaginary friends can give us comfort and help get us through tough times. Mr. Rogers dealt with the land of make believe and that resonated with me through my life. Jerry, my imaginary friend will always be with me but I am glad I have friends now who are an important part of my life.

Daily Prompt: Infuse

From what I am seeing these days we need to infuse some hope, optimism and more importantly love into life. So many things have gotten us down that we need something to lift us up. Infusing good things into our lives will make things better I think. We need something to make things better for all. What you put into something can make the difference. An infusion of positivity can do amazing things and can change people fundamentally.

Daily Prompt: Denial

There is a saying that Cleopatra is the Queen of Denial (a take off of The Nile River) and most people are in denial about something in their lives. We don’t want to admit anything is wrong or something is not going to happen that will impact our lives. Denial isn’t a healthy thing because we don’t want to recognize that there are things in our lives that are not as they seem and should be. People get into a cycle of denial where they are living in a state of belief that nothing is wrong. Reality can kill denial and force us all to admit there is something that we need to take care of lest it harms us mentally, emotionally or spiritually.
