All of us spend a good amount of our lives waiting on something or someone. There are times we find ourselves hanging out in places like this. Somewhat uncomfortable chairs, vending machines and free coffee are standard equipment to help keep you comfortable or something like that. Patience is indeed a virtue when you are holding close to a loved one during a time of convalescing and healing. The waiting can be the hardest part though.

Something About Family
I am a believer in family. Sometimes a family is not always what has been considered traditional, you know the husband and wife with 2.5 kids, the nuclear family that has been so sought after in the past. We live in a time when family is sometimes chosen, adopted and same gender. Several couples I know fit the non-traditional family unit and without doubt there is love and connection there. I can say that those good people I know are blessed to have each other.
A family can be a couple, a couple with kids, a couple with fur kids or a group of friends who have a serious bond with one another. In my mind it’s all good. Family can keep you sane and it can keep you accountable. Not everyone has a family unit they can fully rely on so they need support from friends and others to help keep them going.
You know its great when you have that support and that affection and those couples have it. One specific couple is going through some things today and it looks like one spouse will be on the mend after some serious surgery. It is good that they had the right to marry so they could be secure in making decisions for one another in case of impairment plus health care and spousal rights.
So, no matter what the family looks like its theirs and it is very unique and its special. Family is something that matters and will carry our world and its communities forward. Celebrate the family no matter what it might look like because we need more love in the world.
Something About Titles
Titles are words but they have meaning and the weight of responsibility behind them. When you have a title it means you have achieved something, you have moved upwards. A title means you have been affirmed by those who have noticed you have worked hard and are doing good things.
Some titles are earned by competition against your peers like in civic life or athletics. People work hard to have the title of champion, best in show, best actor/actress or something that elevates you. One’s self-esteem can be impacted by that sort of thing.

Your resume is boosted by having titles that show you have worked your butt off. I have had titles come and go in my life and there is excitement and achievement when you earn them but when they have been stripped away you feel like you have taken steps back.
Of course titles can be what you call something you created. However that is for another post.
Something About Love
Love is something worth doing but like magic there is a price you pay for it.
Something About People Doing Right
Just because one is famous does not give them license to get away with things that demean or harm others. Powerful people have great opportunity to make life better for those around them but sometimes they act in such a way that discriminates and abuses. All sorts of people have paid the price for not doing the right things when they had the chance. We live in a world where affluence and influence can do great harm to the innocent among us. I ask what is so wrong with behaving like a grown up and being a force for good instead of wanting to get away with murder. If an every day person did some of the things we see in media they would be locked up immediately.
When it’s all said and done it takes everyday people to get the job done of being kind, considerate and encouraging us all to live together in a safe local, national and global community. Each one of us is a role model whether we like it or not. Your role is to do right by others. Granted we will mess up and make mistakes but its through those times when teaching moments are important.
Doing right means doing good and being good.
Something About Changing Tech, Changing Times
I have a co-worker who gets frustrated by technology and how fast things are changing. Everyone knows that as soon as one phone is released its just going to get replaced by a newer model a year later. Technology is something that has planned obsolescence as a part of the whole business model.
Market forces cause decision makers to make hard choices in the future of their products. What we want now might not be what we want later. It’s important to be adaptable and fluid in life especially when it comes to devices. Even the very software and hardware that connects us can change rapidly and often times in a surprising way.
Being able to learn new things is vital to keeping us all relevant to what is happening today. Tomorrow is always upon us and we have to be ready because what is cutting edge today could be out of date in a minute or two. As tech changes so does the times because we have gone from a Blockbuster Video world to a Netflix world. Everyone likes things in an instant today. Streaming is everything isn’t it. We even shop differently. Thanks Amazon.com for your click to order and arriving on my doorstep the next day or so.
I think the key thing we have to remember is that the source code for everything is changing and we have to learn to keep up. This sort of change is something I don’t mind I just need to remind myself that I have to keep evolving and adapting as time goes by.
