Easier Said Than Done

Some days it’s easier to post because ideas and things are flowing like a river. Other days its more like a dry desert. I want to post something daily even if it isn’t fully inspirational or it seems like I am phoning it in. One day I will take the day off and just do a ton of commentary on the blogs I follow. As I always say, “Keep on Blogging” and there are times when that is easier said than done.

Thanks for following along, even when I am not giving it my A-game.

Good Monday Morning

Well if you want Monday morning to be good then it will be so. For me I want Monday morning to be good to me. The weekend has come and gone and it was a busy one for me. Now I settle into work and other activities this week. Let’s make today and the rest of this week super awesome. Be good to yourselves and to others. Rock on!

Laying Out The Welcome Mat, It’s Important

When you visit a house you might find a welcome mat, something to let you a visitor know that you are a guest, valued and people are happy to see you. I think organizations should practice a spirit of hospitality to strangers who find their way to their doors. Having been a church member all my life its especially important for a house of worship to be welcoming and happy to see new people who walk across the welcome mat. Who knows, they might come back and could be a regular visitor who could become a member that will make important contributions to the community or organization. Now not everyone is going to be a repeat customer or visitor but its good to be friendly to everyone.

Be sure to welcome strangers into your home. By doing this, some people have welcomed angels as guests, without even knowing it…Hebrews 13:2

Now on my blog I make it a practice to be welcoming to everyone. It’s just how I roll. Now it doesn’t mean someone can come in and be unkind. Being kind is a practice that is often hard to do but it is worth it. Hospitality is a concept and its something that is practical. Welcoming a stranger is important because they might be someone valuable who could help your life and yes as Hebrews says you might be welcoming an angel. So as the movie “Beauty and the Beast” once said “Be Our Guest” and everyone should be welcomed in any place in this life.

It really doesn’t take a lot of effort to be nice, kind, friendly. Reaching out to new people is in all of life will help you in life be more social and that will benefit you in so many ways. A smile, a handshake or perhaps a hug will connect you to someone who might make your life better.

I Left My Phone At Home This Morning

I am forgetful, we are all forgetful. This morning I left my mobile phone at home and it will be a day to get by without it. Fortunately I am connected at work so it’s not as big a deal as it could be. This does provide an interesting throwback Thursday though. It takes me back to a time when I didn’t worry about having a phone and I wasn’t hyper connected to everyone and everything everywhere I went. Nevertheless its still frustrating to forget something that has become a part of ones everyday life. Yes I know this is a first world problem and there are more serious things to be worried about. My phone gets the day off from me…I guess our gadgets need a break too.

My Heroes Come And Gone

Mario Lopez said on Twitter that the bad part of getting older is seeing your heroes pass on. I must say he is on to something. Many of the people in real life and in pop culture who I call my heroes are leaving this life. At the ripe old age of 45 I am reading more and more the people who were a important part of my growing up are going through transitions in life. I am grateful for the lives of people I looked up to and admired. They influenced me to be who I am.

Positivity, It’s Hard As Hell To Be That All The Time

I try to be a positive person in life but there is no way to be that all the time. What we see in the news can really bring you down. You can’t always ignore it either because your friends and your social network are talking about it. Then there are situations you experience in person which impact you in a profound way. Putting a smile on your face can be a challenge. All the bad news in the world can really bring you down and make you question life. Being a beacon of positivity can make one weary and tired. Maybe it’s OK to be a little vulnerable and to be negative every once and awhile. Its hard as hell sometimes and that is OK. Bah!
