Pride Is More Than Your Paycheck

A person’s paycheck is a recognition of their work. It should never be used to judge someone’s worth. People who show up to do jobs that don’t make a lot are doing the best they can. Pay shaming isn’t cool and doesn’t do anyone any good. There are many people who need to be paid more than what they make.

Most people are paycheck to paycheck workers. Some folks have to hold down two or three jobs just to make ends meet. Many work long shifts that aren’t 9-5. It’s important to support those who work hard every day, no matter what they do. Pride is more than your paycheck.

Change Is All Around

The more you stay in a place the more it changes around you. Whether it be a job, a neighborhood, or somewhere else you see people, places, and things change and there’s really nothing you can do about it. Life moves on, people move on, everything moves on.

I have been in my job for almost eight years and I have seen faces come and go. My roles have changed. Yet I still remain because I have built a career in which I am helping people and saving lives.

The more things change, the more they stay the same is a philosophy I am not sure I agree with. Change is all around you. Don’t get too comfortable.

The work goes on. Life goes on. The thing about it all is you have to adapt and change along with all the stuff. I suppose you hold on to the important things and keep the main thing the main thing.

WW III

I don’t want to admit it, but WW III is imminent. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will force the hand of many nations to act. This was much like WW II when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Before that, the United Kingdom was getting pummeled by Nazi Germany. There are so many people suffering in Ukraine that something has to be done.

I am hoping for peace but I am being realistic. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I don’t think Ukraine can take much more without some help. Sanctions will only do so much and this seems to be more about bringing a country to its knees.

God be with us all, especially Ukrainians everywhere and the Russian people who are protesting what is going on.

Sunday Reflection: A Few Thoughts

The thing about reflections is that they can show multiple things simultaneously. With that being said here are a few thoughts.

People are made up of a body and a soul linked together. It takes both to create a human being. Everyone is created in the image of their creator/higher power. It is important to understand that the body and soul are linked.

People need love and understanding. Without those important things people can feel like they don’t matter. Just think about how the world can change when we give a damn about our family, friends, neighbors and people we haven’t met yet.

Someone once said what the world needs now is love. In all it’s wonderful forms.

Spring Forward On Sunday 3/13/2022

Daylight saving time 2022 officially begins Sunday, March 13 at 2 a.m., meaning we move the clock ahead one hour. This also means we “lose” one hour of sleep and it messes up our biological clocks for a few days. Don’t forget to move your clocks ahead before turning in for bed tonight.
