It’s been 5 weeks since my Facebook fast and I am not missing it much. Believe me its done wonders for my mental health and has helped me focus on my blogging which is a good thing. At some point, I am going to have to deal with it and pare it down to something I don’t have to tend. Right now my profile is deactivated so nothing is lost. As for now, I am keeping on this course.
One month ago I went on a Facebook fast for personal reasons. It’s been a great experience where I have cleared my head and focused on other areas of expression like my blog. I remain connected on Twitter and Instagram. I don’t regret leaving one bit, but I know a return is in sight sometime in the future. So far so good though and I’ll go back when I am good and ready. Until then, steady on as they say.
So, today is my one week without Facebook anniversary. I have been just fine without it. Sure stuff is going on there I wonder about but in reality, I am learning that I just don’t need to know what is going on with everyone all the time. Avoiding drama is good for one’s mental health. As I wrote about earlier there is a Fear Of Missing Out but as you go along that fear is less and less.
Perhaps Facebook has told us that you can’t live without it but I know a few folks who are doing just that and many of them are fellow bloggers. Facebook can be a strong influence in terms of what is posted there. I am just glad there is one less thing to worry about. Let’s see how long this lasts, maybe it can be something long-term. We shall see.
Mark Zuckerberg I don’t need you telling me what to do! 🙂
What if it went away, what would people do? Sometimes it’s a distraction. People somehow have made a fortune from it. Maybe posting pictures of your food on your blog would be good or better. Jennifer Aniston took forever to get in on the action. What’s your position on “the Gram”?
So the new Twitter user interface is live. If you are a user, what do you think? I am OK with it and will give it a chance.
If you are a fan of Twitter like me be aware there is a new look coming soon. It will be interesting to see how it works and functions. I am a believer that a user interface update is good every now and then as long as it makes sense. We shall see what it does and will it be easier or more difficult to use.
