Trying A New Operating System, Fedora KDE Plasma

I have been tinkering again, and this time I have been experimenting with the Fedora Linux operating system.

Fedora Linux is a Linux distribution developed by the Fedora Project. It was originally developed in 2003 as a continuation of the Red Hat Linux project.

There are different flavors of Fedora and I have been testing the KDE Plasma variant and I like it very much. I am a long-time user and I have been able to customize it to my liking and my workflow as an enthusiast who knows enough to be dangerous. I am using it on my desktop and laptop, so I am all-in.

My Fedora Linux KDE Plasma Desktop

So far, it’s worked well for me. I look forward to using it more and adjusting to how different it is from the Debian/Ubuntu distributions I have been using since I switched to Linux from Windows many years ago. This looks like a promising start to doing something new in Nerd Corner.

Happy Gilmore 2 – A Hole In One Sequel

Adam Sandler is a terrific comedian and storyteller. He has brought us back to the golf links in Happy Gilmore 2. This sequel is full of callbacks from the original movies and full of nostalgia, fun, and tells us a new story about the future of golf.

It has a loaded cast, with Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald returning and surprising appearances by All Elite Wrestling star Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce. Adam has his real life wife and daughters in the movie too. Like other Adam Sandler movies, you will see lots of familiar and famous faces, like real life PGA golfers. It is on Netflix, check it out, you will enjoy it.

Question….

I have a question I would like you to answer for me. Do you find me and what I post interesting? Comments and constructive criticism welcomed.

The Week Since Hangman Adam Page Became Champion at AEW ALL IN: Texas

It has been one week since All Elite Wrestling held its grandest event of the year, ALL IN. Hangman Adam Page beat Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match to capture the richest prize in the sport, the AEW Men’s World Championship. It was a bloody and violent match that no one will forget for a long time. Indeed, it has been the week for our champion, Adam.

Other historic matches happened, such as Toni Storm beating Mercedes Mone and Kazuchika Okada beating Kenny Omega. Dustin Rhodes at 56 years of age also won the TNT Championship and that was a huge surprise.

I have to say, last Saturday was great. Thanks to my Missus for helping make it happen. Professional wrestling is the greatest sport!

Daily Prompt – No Bringing Back Dinosaurs, Not Even One!

Daily writing prompt
If you could bring back one dinosaur, which one would it be?

All it took was one Jurassic Park movie to make me realize that no dinosaurs should ever be brought back. Not even the “cute” ones because that is a slippery slope that we should never slide down. They are best studied from the safety of paleontology and science books. Dinosaurs should remain extinct. We do however have birds that are a descendant of the raptor.

To quote Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) from the first Jurassic Park movie, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”

Trouble On The Air Waves In America

Yesterday, congress in the USA voted to defund Public Media in America. That means that PBS and NPR, which made up a small part of the total budget, will not receive aid from the government and that will impact Public TV and Radio stations from coast to coast. This is a problem because many of those stations provide an essential informational and instructional service to communities where there isn’t a good commercial option. Everything from news to Sesame Street will be impacted. This move is an act of political aggression if you ask me.

Then came word yesterday that Late Night with Stephen Colbert is ending after May 2026. The whole show has been canceled, and that means an essential voice in calling truth to power will go silent. Stephen Colbert always spoke truth to power, and in these days that is so needed. The parent company of his network, CBS says it’s a cost-cutting move, but that isn’t true if you ask me it’s political for sure. Colbert is a decent man with a wicked sense of humor that will be sorely missed.

It’s like some folks can’t handle the truth that comes with abusing power. To me, we are on a slippery slope, and that is never a good thing. The whole thing is wrong, and I am not happy about any of this. Now we wait for the next shoe to drop, impacting the culture of the USA.
