From what Google and Twitter say it’s Friendship Day and that’s cool. My view on this particular day which was founded in part by Joyce Hall of Hallmark Greeting Cards Company. The criticism is that it’s to sell and exchange greeting cards and other tokens of affection. You know what that would be fine with me. We need more expressions of love, affection and friendship these days.
We live in a mean world that needs softening up. Rediscovering tenderness and friendship is important to give us something to keep us going.
Personally I don’t have a best friend but many people I call friends. Those are people who you share a common view on life, you are there for one another when things get tough and people you can confide in. It’s important they are interested in you as a human being. I am blessed with a good family but there are extended family who I have chosen to be in my life. The one thing is that you hope as you are a good friend to others that they return the favor. Relationships need to be a two-way street to be successful and worth having.
There aren’t many people who follow my blog I have met in person. However I consider you friends for a reason in that you are interested in me as a person and as a fellow blogger. Our bond is in living and blogging. It doesn’t matter if we ever meet in person although it would be cool.
I find you all to be quality people who like me have something to say and things in our worlds to share. That is what makes this whole thing special. These blogs I follow don’t write themselves because there is a human being creating and curating and writing important works that are snapshots of time and space and place in their own lives. The same can be said for many who I follow on Twitter and Instagram.
So good people thank you for your support as of late. It is very much appreciated. As I always say, be the star of your own blog and keep on blogging.
You can only say “no” too many times before people stop asking you to be a part of something. I understand too well that saying “yes” too many times can deplete your mind, body and soul. Saying “no” frequently means giving up possible opportunities that can change your life and the lives of others.
The solution could be prioritizing ones life so that there can be some balance but even then its easy to decline instead of accept. Professionally you have to say yes every now and then to indicate you still have interest in growth and advancement in your chosen field. Personally it means giving value to relationships of family and friends that you want to be a part of their lives. Just saying “no” just to say “no” out of habit can be a problem for you down the road.
It takes courage either way to say yes and to say no. You just have to figure out what means more to you.
Today I went through quite a few blogs and decided to un-follow some inactive sites. This was nothing personal but just a function of housekeeping and freeing up space for active bloggers.
My criterion was if they haven’t blogged in 3 months or more I un-followed them. If you are like me you see a cool blogger and wanna follow them but sometimes it can be way to many blogs to look at and to manage.
I understand that it can go both ways and someone would be ready to kick me to the curb and that is fair. I pretty much blog every day and multiple times a day so there have been people who have said they can’t keep up. It’s all good. Thanks to each of you who follow me and who make blogging an important part of your daily ritual. Keep on blogging!
Blogging meaning the reading and writing of blog posts can lower your blood pressure and help you release genuine feelings and emotions in a safer environment than other places. Also the connection with people who you are meeting for the first time is also fun!
