To My Friends Of Color

To all my friends of color, I stand with you. Your lives make mine better. Our hearts make the world better. Please know what has happened is sad and sickening. I am hoping for better days for all of us and most importantly that you will not have to fear for your lives anymore sooner rather than later. I’ll do what I can to support you.

Love, Me.

The Slippery Social Media Slope

Everyone reading who reads blogs, Tweets, timeline posts, or watches vlogs and the like is actively involved in social media of some sort. There is a difference between opinion and fact, truth, and lies. Right now there is a bunch of gray between what is reality and fantasy. My friends having some certainty and stability in the chaos of this life we are all leading is so necessary right now.

My opinion of Donald Trump is that he is a vile, evil, son of a bitch who has no empathy or care for anyone other than himself. Others would differ.

With all that being said we live in a time when it has been documented that he and other politicians live somewhere between true and false statements.

In the pandemic age we live in we need facts and we are getting them from public health professionals who have studied and prepared for a time like this.

When it comes to democracy making it easier for people to vote and participate is necessary for any nation to choose the right people to lead and hopefully serve. To spread lies about mail-in voting does great harm.

My friends the regulation or deregulation depending on the circumstances of social media is a slippery slope. Especially when it’s coming from a person who uses the technology to bully, intimidate, lie, and to undermine our society. When you are supposed to be the leader of the free world words matter and his words seem to do great harm to many.

I am concerned because without checking the facts what can be said on Twitter might as well be the gospel truth in the mind of those who choose not to research further and to get more information. All of this is scary and everyone who is a content creator of some sort has to stand up and speak out. For many, their livelihoods are at stake.

My friends, be vigilant, and use the tools you have to make your voice heard and seen.

Commentary On Racism

In light of the senseless deaths of African American people at the hands of law enforcement officers, there should be greater background checks on recruits as well as mental fitness screenings. If a police officer is racist and mentally unfit that makes things worse and everyone is less safe. Racism is problem enough but adding people who are licensed to carry a firearm and are trained to subdue a human being is like adding gasoline to a fire. The stress of the job can bring out the worst in people and no one is safe when that happens.

Also living in fear of one another is hurting our society in so many ways. God said fear not and to love one another. The church should play a role in emphasizing that more than they do. My friends a reckoning is coming, and it might not be good for all of us.

Geek Pride Day – May 25, 2020 #geekprideday

Geek Pride Day is a high holy day for people like me. It is observed annually on May 25 to promote geek culture. The observance originated in Spain and is today known across countries. The internet and social media helped in creating awareness about the day and its significance over the years. Geek Pride Day celebrates nerdom with meet-ups and parties.

If you are reading this or you have a blog you are a geek. Embrace it. The world needs more of us to make the world a better place. Geek on my friends!

The Thing About: Stories

We all have a story to tell. Our lives are happening in real time and that is a tale indeed worth sharing. I am thinking about those who’s lives have been impacted by life-changing events as of late. People have altered their existence because of the pandemic where their routines and usual things have been changed.

Some have lost their lives in one way or another. Their story must be told and their memory must live on. It’s the way to keep those people alive.

Our witness to the events of the day is what will be written in history books. Our story is taking place among the larger events of our time. Our reaction to those events is also a part of that narrative.

Just think about those who have witnessed the biggest events in history. All we have is their account of what happened. As a believer I have a faith story which is happening at the same time as my life story and my life is happening at the same time as others around me. It’s interesting how when you change your focus you can see all the stuff going on around you and how we react is a story in and of itself.

Technology has given us amazing ways to tell our stories. From blogging, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Tik Tok and of course self-publishing books and the like we have the opportunity to chronicle our lives and share what we hope will be something that will inspire and influence others.

My friends, tell your story. Show the world who you are, where you have been and where you hope to go.
