WoofPress, The WordPress for Dogs

If a there was a dog version of WordPress would it be “WoofPress”….What would your dog say if it had a blog. Just think of all the things they see daily that they don’t say a word about. Dogs are loyal and fortunately they can’t air your dirty laundry on a blog. Now cats would be totally tell-all. I think the dog version of Twitter is Woofer.
In The Headlines, Beware of Clickbait
On Facebook we all have friends who post news clips and other posts from dodgy sources. A website with a strange name that just looks made up, more times than not those sites are clickbait that feature content of a sensational headlines. Usually they are meant to generate online advertising revenue. We have all fallen for those headlines that make us want to find out more because of an article that we find interesting. However, it can be frustrating when you visit those sites only to be disappointed by the content and also the massive amount of ads and further clickbait articles that takes you down a deeper hole. Be careful about where you click.
My philosophy is simple when posting news and other articles on my blog and on Facebook. If its a brand name like CBS, CNN, ABC, BBC, ITV, Huffington Post, The Independent, Buzz Feed, USA Today and the like I will share it. Anything that sounds just made up then you won’t see it from me. I will share articles from satire sites like The Onion or The Babylon Bee (a Christian satire site similar to the Onion). My site will feature shared links, video, embedded Tweets and other media. It’s important to vary the type of content I share.
In a world where we are so inundated with information you have to be careful. Reliable sources with a heritage of sharing accurate information is what you will find here. I owe it to you my fellow bloggers that if I am sharing the news and current events of the day that you can believe it. Clickbait is a nuisance and it can lead to someone being grossly misinformed. Use sites like Snopes and do a Google search to see if what you are looking at is indeed a true story.
Before you share an article, check its source. Some things are too good to be true and you might be padding someone’s advertising budget.
Blogging In Time And Space
It’s cool when you read a blog and they say it’s Saturday when where you are it’s still Friday. This blogging thing spans time, space and the planet. Blogging is universal and community building. To everyone where it’s a different time from where I am I hope you have an awesome day! Keep on blogging, the world depends on it.
My Blog Is Me
tonyburgess1969.net is my spot on the web, my official blog of record, my domain (yep I paid for it). No matter what goes on over at Facebook or Twitter this will always be where I will share what is on my heart and in my head without limit. Here I can be less filtered and a little more daring if you will. It is important to be genuine and real. Bloggers are special and we all have a connection with one another through our common interest. Of course I will remain courteous, kind and always silly. Here I am the star of my own blog.
This is a digital extension of who I am. What you see here is what I am like in person. I am grateful to each of you from far and wide who are following me, reading and commenting my posts. As I read on another blog a blog without readers isn’t a fun place to be. WordPress has provided us an awesome platform for expression and connection. So when you come here you will see my blog is me.
Rambling About Originality And My Blog
I make every effort to make my blog as original as possible using my own thoughts and words to express who I am and to chronicle and curate the things I am interested in. With that said I do “borrow” from sources when my own words aren’t as good as the original. I do give credit where credit is due though. Occasionally I will re-blog a post from a fellow blogger if it fits the overall narrative of my blog.
I get a lot of material for my blog from Wikipedia, YouTube, Google, Websites that features quotes and saying from others, etc. There are images that help tell my story that come from various sources which are copyrights of the holders and creators of their work. My blog is a non-commercial work and I have no intention of monetizing it.
I am influenced and inspired by other bloggers and the culture and attitudes of the moment. Sometimes that influence rubs off and you end up copying someone without realizing it. However there are some who just seem to take someone else’s work and make it their own, which is wrong.
Our world is a mix of open source and copyrighted works so we have to be careful to do the right thing and credit sources as a best practice.
What is your experience with originality and blogging?
As always I encourage you to be original, be yourself, make your blog unique. Keep on blogging.
