There has been another mass shooting in America. This time it was in Nashville, Tennessee at a Christian school. Three students and three adults were killed. I talked about rest yesterday but this is something where no one can rest until something is done. There are many solutions, pick one. It’s better than doing nothing and having people still die. We should all be sick of this. How many lives must perish before something is done? Unfortunately, Tennessee’s governor is fighting culture wars that no one asked to be fought.

Sunday Reflection – Rest
The need for rest is important. In scripture, rest is a must. We do much better as human beings when we have it. Unfortunately, some cannot have much rest because they have to be constantly working to make a living or just to fight for their rights. Everyone must be afforded rest no matter their situation. It can be exhausting having to be on the go every day.
The rest I am speaking of comes from being able to just breathe, restore one’s spirit and feel a sense of freedom. Sleep is rest but so is the ability to just slow down and just exist freely. When you are done with your day’s work the greatest thing is to go home, enjoy a meal and do other things.
Resting can mean finding a place to go where you can recharge and renew. Our souls are better when they are refreshed. May we all find that secret sauce that will help us find the rest we need so that our journey will be good. Also, may we help others find rest as they fight the good fight and not add to their struggle.
Rest my friends. Rest.

World Bear Day, March 23rd

On March 23rd, World Bear Day celebrates all types of bears! Moon bears, sun bears, spectacled bears, sloth bears, black and brown bears! Happy Bear Day to all who observe.
Quote Of The Day
Either you allow Holy Scriptures to change you, or you will normally try to use it to change–and clobber–other people. It is the height of idolatry to use the supposed Word of God so that my small self can be in control and be right. But I am afraid this has been more the norm than the exception in the use of the Bible.

A Sunday Reflection
This post might be narrow blogging to the team Jesus squad. I hope it doesn’t offend anyone. These are some thoughts and I don’t want to start a debate.
Church and Christianity for that matter should be places of comfort for those who have hearts and souls that need mending after being damaged by various things. Dealing with the reality of life and its ugly stuff is hard work and the church should be a place where you can do that. I want less praise and worship and more blues and gangster rap.
Life is hard enough and Christians should be about helping people on the journey. People of faith are human beings. God is god and when that is realized freedom can be found. It is my hope that my church can be a safe haven for imperfect people. I hope this makes sense.
