The Old Web Days

Do you remember when the Internet was a more fun place to be? Billionaires have bought up sites like Twitter and Tumblr, where people share stuff and connect with one another. There were dozens of sites where people could set up blogs and share photos but nowadays it’s just a handful. In this case, pining for the old days isn’t all that bad.

The Internet is becoming the bargain bin of the 21st century. It’s about Amazon these days.

If it weren’t for blogging I wouldn’t have many of the friends I have today. I hope that Facebook and other social media platforms won’t be the last things to stand.

Giving Blood On A Sunday

I donated blood today at Church which brings together a couple of worlds of mine. Twice a year we do a blood drive which I organize because it helps those in need. In full disclosure, I work at Blood Assurance which is our regional blood bank that brings a mobile donation unit to the church. We do this as an outreach to our community to provide life-saving blood to patients in the hospitals we serve.

Being A Geek

A clean install of your computer’s operating system is a good idea. However, when you have to do it because you screw up is not always fun. I have made that error more times than I can count. Fortunately, my prior experience is helpful when unscheduled maintenance is needed. Being a geek is beneficial when you need to correct your mistakes. It’s helpful to be a geek if you ask me.

Sunday Reflection – No One Is OK

I am not OK. You are not OK. None of us is OK. Now that we have that established we are all humans in need of healing. We all have different ways of getting help. The reality of it all is that being honest about how we are feeling can get us closer to being whole.

As a human believer, I am not perfect and sometimes the divine has to step in to give me comfort and assurance. Just because you believe in God doesn’t mean you are free from the troubles of the world. Sometimes life is about going through troubles and having the creator walk with you through it all.

No matter what, just hang in there. Know that there are people out there to encourage you. Hope is also a powerful thing. Also, there is that thing called love where many of us are going to know they will make it knowing that no one is OK. OK.

Grace and peace to you all my friends.

Thought Of The Day 09242022 #iran #hijab

Religious head coverings such as a hijab or yarmulke are worn out of love and devotion. In some countries, religious laws require women to wear hijabs and it shouldn’t be like that. It should be an option and would have more meaning if free will was the case.

In Iran, a twenty-two-year-old woman was beaten for shedding her hijab and later died. That is a horrible tragedy and now the women of Iran are protesting. I support those women who are standing up for themselves there.

Right now it’s hard to be a woman because religious zealots desire to control their lives. They also face abuse and violence. Women deserve better, they deserve respect, and they deserve freedom to choose in a myriad of ways.

Let freedom ring for our mothers, sisters, wives, cousins, friends, and others. It’s the 21st century after all or so we thought.
