The 19th season of this summer tradition has begun and a whole new set of house guests have checked into the Big Brother house with the theme of temptation. For the next 3 months or so I will be held hostage 3 days a week to see the drama unfold. One thing about Big Brother is you do not assume anything so we shall see what happens.
TVLine’s annual cheat sheet of relief, anxiety and utter anguish known as the Renewal Scorecard has arrived! From now until late May, ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and The CW will determine which shows are go…
This is the time of year that TV shows are renewed for another season or cancelled. Networks are looking at ratings, cost of production and other factors in their decision making. A lot of people are nervous right about now and others are on the phones with their agents to get them work. Some shows I liked this past season are coming back while others have gotten the ax. I am hanging on for a few more shows that are in limbo. We shall see what happens.
Yes I still love broadcast TV. I grew up on it and appreciate what it brings to the culture of the nation.
Freedom of the press is a venerated right in America. To deny well established media organizations from participating in the reporting of the days events of our government is frankly un-American. It doesn’t matter if its liberal or conservative the press should have full access to our leaders outside of revealing state secrets. The Trump administration is showing they don’t care about making us great but making us ignorant.
Watching a 90th anniversary celebration of the NBC network and thinking how much of our culture has been shaped by broadcast television and before it radio. I am a product of it and I am very proud to have worked in it. Without this medium our lives would be very different because we would have been given a glimpse of how life can be for everyone. Modern storytelling has come from the writers and performers that came into our lives through a box in our living rooms nightly. Entertainment, enlightenment and education have come over the airwaves for decades. Along with CBS and ABC over the air TV has made our country what it is today and has made the lives of us all a little more cheerful and fun.
Peter Capaldi is a terrific actor and a great “Doctor”. He will be leaving “Doctor Who” at the end of this series/season. Peter made this role his own and it will be interesting to see who will be tapped to replace him in the TARDIS.
Mary Tyler Moore with TV husband Dick Van Dyke, both Emmy Winners.
Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke had one of those legendary screen romances that inspired a generation. We say farewell to Mary who played Laura Petrie in the Dick Van Dyke Show and later starred in her own show The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Thanks for creating classic TV memories.
