June 14 is World Blood Donor Day. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate those who give the gift of life and spread the word about the value of donation.
What we see every day around the world is situations where blood is needed for those in need whether it be for surgery or because they have been in a serious accident and require an emergency transfusion or as we have seen in Orlando the need because of a mass shooting. You never know when you will need blood to save your life or even saving the lives of someone you love. Being a blood donor means saving 3 lives with every donation. If you can donate please consider donating today.
I wish there was a setting that would prevent selected blogs from being reblogged by other users. Personally I don’t reblog a lot of stuff because I believe in generating original content. I will only reblog something if it fits in the philosophy of my blog. There is some value in reblogging because of the traffic it generates but there is also a creepy aspect about re-posting something personal from another blogger. With a little imagination and creativity people can do amazing work.
Snapchat the popular photo texting app thingy is now off my phone. It is a very big app in terms of space and I wasn’t using it much because I just couldn’t get into it. I will stick with the apps and services I tend to use more such as WordPress, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr.
This is my current Gravitar and profile pic on Facebook. Coming soon to Twitter and Instagram. It’s important to have a consistent identity across all your platforms. It kind of links them all together in a iconic and symbolic way.
Yes I still look like a dork. Little can be done to change that.
I have been blogging off and on with WordPress.com for 10 years. Back in April of last year I migrated from Tumblr and made this my full-time online home. I appreciate the WordPress.com team for providing a great platform for connection, creativity and communication. Blogging here has given me the tools to have a solid online presence. Here is to another 10 years with WP.com.
Blog for the love of it first. Make connections. Have fun. Don’t let your blog get the best of you. Don’t worry about number of followers so much, if you do regular posts they will come. Tag surf and find other donors that you can establish relationships with. All of this will happen in time. Vary the format in which you blog. Post media such as video, audio and pictures every now and then.
Be yourself first, that will draw folks to your blog.
