In searching for a Throwback Thursday picture in my photo collection I saw how much has changed in the past five years. Things have come and gone. People have come and gone. Pretty remarkable things have happened. I used to be way more involved with stuff but now I’m not. My spiritual home has changed too.
A lot can happen in five minutes and five hours and five days and five months and five years. Something about five years that can inform you that you are different but that’s OK. Life is meant to be like this but with change comes some adjustment and the ability to cope.
We will all have moments in time when the here and now doesn’t look like it did then.
You can only say “no” too many times before people stop asking you to be a part of something. I understand too well that saying “yes” too many times can deplete your mind, body and soul. Saying “no” frequently means giving up possible opportunities that can change your life and the lives of others.
The solution could be prioritizing ones life so that there can be some balance but even then its easy to decline instead of accept. Professionally you have to say yes every now and then to indicate you still have interest in growth and advancement in your chosen field. Personally it means giving value to relationships of family and friends that you want to be a part of their lives. Just saying “no” just to say “no” out of habit can be a problem for you down the road.
It takes courage either way to say yes and to say no. You just have to figure out what means more to you.
To take a picture in the old way means exposing film to light to create a image. Then you have to process and develop that film to create a print that can be seen by everyone.
Exposure also means being made aware of things that are not familiar. Lots of places need exposure to share what they are doing and to bring people to the marketplace of ideas and commerce.
Exposure can also be a very negative thing when bad behavior is brought to light so that all can see. No one wants their dirty laundry to be seen.
It’s interesting how exposure can have different applications and uses in life. It can also have special meanings depending on the situation.
In a world of corporation, conglomeration, chains
There is a spirit of being Indie
Indie films on a screen
Indie bands with new, exciting music in your ear
Indie food with a different taste
Indie artists who paint outside the lines sometimes
Indie writers and poets with something radical to say
Indie wrestlers wanting their time in the ring
Indie people seeking freedom to do their own thing without consequence
There is something refreshing about being Indie
You can find a new spirit tied to creativity
There’s a risk of being Indie but the reward is eternal
Indie means being Independent and Interdependent simultaneously
The thing about being Indie is that you take a chance
That is worth it all
With some dreaming and some hard work many things can become a possibility even a reality. It takes some effort and an open mind to make things happen in the world. With a little help the impossible becomes possible. There is a possibility that something might happen that will surprise you. Everyone likes good surprises right? I hope whatever you are hoping for will become a real possibility.
