A Note About My Political Posts

It’s no secret I lean left/liberal and I make no apologies for that. One week from today we in the United States will have a new president and that scares the hell out of me. Sometimes you have to speak out about things that deeply concerns you and this is one of those times. You can’t be silent when you see something wrong or threatening. I have too many friends who are scared out of their minds because they are looking at their lives being severely impacted by the desire by some to discriminate and turn back the clock when things were good for them. People on the fringes are in peril. Something has to be done before it’s too late.

If you wish to stop following me I understand. What is happening is too important not to say something to defend the rights of 100% of our population. Too much is at stake. Now is the time to act.

Thank you for your care and the space to express myself. Even when we disagree we can be civil, courteousness.

Something About Real vs. Fake

It’s amazing we have to figure out what’s real and what’s fake these days. Sometimes the lines are blurred between the two. Whether it be news or what you put in your coffee to make it sweeter, less bitter you have a choice on what to consume. As the classic rock group Queen once sang “is this real life or is it just fantasy” that is the magic question everyone asks. Some people like fake things like diamonds and handbags because you don’t have to pay the real deal price. Information is one of those things that is life and death because depending on what you believe you might do more harm than good. Buyer and believer beware in the real vs. fake thing we all must cope with daily.

Friday, January 13, 2017, Yep It’s Friday The 13th

So, it’s Friday the 13th. Anyone superstitious or anything like that? Avoid black cats, breaking mirrors and that sort of thing. For some there is a fear of this day, while others brush it off. Have the best day possible everyone.

Back To Life, Back To Reality

Tomorrow the holidays will be over for most folks. Some businesses observe New Years on Monday while others say it’s back to work. All the fun stuff is going away and we are going back into reality and that can suck. I suppose the best way to get back to regular routine is to just do regular routine. Get up, get ready, go to work, get home when your shift is done. The holidays haven’t had the same flair this year for some reason. Perhaps its the world situation that has creeped in with how 2016 was such a horrible year.

I have a 3-day weekend so I won’t be going back to work until Tuesday. Then I am taking Friday off because I need a bit of a break after a very tough late November through December at work.

So as real life begins to reestablish itself as the normal perhaps we can find time to have moments of holiday whenever we can. Have a good return to the office, wherever that might be.

Throwback Thursday – Queen – Under Pressure #TBT

Today I am feeling the pressure from several directions. Queen featuring the late David Bowie sings for me today. Pressure sucks!

Help and Donuts

This morning we went to Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast and as we were leaving a man comes up and asks us if we can help him by buying him some donuts for his family. He and his family were trying to rebuild their lives after being burned out of their home. All he wanted was two donuts but I got him six.

Please know I am not trying to brag or to boast for helping a complete stranger. Helping people should be something natural for me since I do it for a living. As a believer, my faith informs me that I am to help others.

But in the grand scheme of things its difficult to know who needs help and those who don’t. I am kind of cynical these days but today was one of those situations where helping this man was something I needed to do. Perhaps I am too judgmental or assume too much. There are stories of people asking for cash and all they want it for is to buy cigs, booze or something else that doesn’t help them like food, shelter, essentials. You know it was $6, it didn’t break the bank. I really hope he enjoyed the chocolate glazed donuts.

I can say that there have been times when we have needed help and it was good to return the favor and passing it forward. This man we helped today needed donuts. Some day it could be a man needing some hope. Sometimes that man is me.
