I am struggling to come up with clever titles for these posts about my time in exile from Facebook. At some point, I feel I will need to go back and say hi to my connections and do some massive surgery on my presence there. In the meantime, it’s all good for me not being in that space. Next week it will have been two months which is surprising. Thanks for your support in this time away from that all-consuming and controversial spot on the Interweb.
One screen is good. Two screens are better. I added another monitor to my nerd corner to enjoy it twice as much. Each monitor will do different things and that sort of thing. I am really going to enjoy this setup.
Inspired by fellow blogger Robin I have switched my Linux distribution back to Xubuntu 18.04 from Ubuntu 19.04. This is due in part to Ubuntu not wanting to load properly. Xubuntu also uses fewer system resources and is very customizable without a lot of tweaking. I added a few apps for audio, photo management, photo editing, a calendar that syncs with Google and a few other things. I can always add more things as I need it too. Like Robin said its like coming home to a familiar neighborhood.
I don’t know how we keep up with our lives online because all the usernames and passwords to remember. Just think of all the apps on your phone and sites on your laptop/tablet that must have login information to provide. When you migrate to a new device you have to recall all that information to be able to use those services. Yes there are password managers and the like but you know those require usernames and passwords too. I am sure you have the same experiences too. Frustrating, oh yes.
