Today, August 13th is Left Handers Day! It is a day to recognize how awesome left-handed people are, like me. My wife is also left handed as well as many other great people.
This annual celebration is to honor peoplw who have been born left-handed and also our way of raising awareness among the right-handed majority of the different talents and needs of left-handers, particularly children.
So to all of us who are left handed we can honestly say we are the only ones in our right minds. Have a great day fellow lefties. Keep Left!
We all get in a rut about something or another. For me it can be what I order at a restaurant or cook at home. There is comfort in routine and certain things that give us a sense of familiarity. Everyone has a short list of things that we enjoy in life. Many of us don’t venture out to explore new things and to seek out new experiences. Maybe being in that rut says something about us, about how we need the security of predictable motions. Sheldon Cooper of “The Big Bang Theory” is one of those TV characters who stays in a rut, likes things to be the way they are. Anything new rocks his world and disturbs the order of his life. Sometimes we need an Amy Farrah Fowler (his girlfriend) to help us get out of routines and ruts and to see things in a new way. So whatever rut you are into try something new. It’s all good. Be brave, I hope I can follow my own advice.
I have been registered and have had some dormant blogs here on WordPress for several years. Back in April I made the decision I needed a change of venue for my blogging and decided that WordPress would be more than adequate to suit my needs.
I thank each of you who have followed this blog and for your interest in what I have to say. Sometimes I ramble on about things in my head and other times there are things that just need to be said. Keep on blogging good people!
It’s coming to the point where there is nothing new under the Sun. You see a lot of posts that have a familiar feel to them and that is because someone inspired someone else to write something. I think you see that in books and entertainment lately with a lot of reboots and story lines you have seen before. Everything runs together and sounds familiar. Now if someone just copied and pasted your work and did some slight changes then that is another story, that is stealing and that is wrong. I believe in being original or trying to be. Trying to do something new is a challenge. Protecting your work is a must. However know that inspiring someone to be creative is a honor and a privilege.
Twitter has the feature of letting tweets be embedded in blogs and other sites. I am using this option to help curate things I am interested in. To see the embedded tweets in my blog you need to see the blog itself and not through the WordPress Reader because it doesn’t display the way it should.
Embedding tweets is a great way to bring new content and link people to stories on the web you want to share. To find out more on how to do this visit https://support.twitter.com/articles/20169559 where they have complete instructions. Now in WordPress you will need to use the HTML not the Visual editor to do this.
Students are returning to the classroom these days and its a time of gladness for parents and sadness for young people and college students alike. I remembered the times when we would go shopping for school supplies and clothes. Back in my day (yeah I just said that) we would go back to class at the beginning of September, after Labor Day when it wasn’t so hot. Now kids are going back in the beginning of August which in my mind is crazy. Its very tough in the school house for kids these days because there is more to learn and more to do. There is also a situation where its tough to be yourself and to not conform, just the same as it ever was. Socially its tough because not everyone knows who they are. Bullying is a issue from all generations and its something that needs to be dealt with on all levels.
I am a smart person in many areas while in others I struggle. As a kid I had learning disabilities and was in special education classes. Eventually I caught up and made it through with a lot of help from family and the good Lord above.
Kids are trying to keep up with the demands of the classroom so our country can keep up globally. Homework is piling up on the kids like I never had. Friends its tough to be in school today. The pressures of making it in the classroom are high. Our students need support from family and community to make the grade. Keep the kids of all ages who are back to the classroom now and in the coming days. They need it now and always.
This commercial aired in America by the Staples office supply chain. It welcomed sad kids back to school while parents celebrated the most wonderful time of the year.
